presumptious? moi?
Just my opinion - sorry if you don’t agree!
But you must agree it was very nearly 1-1 last night - would you have been as smug then?

Great to see The Albion starting the season so well. I’ve not been to watch for a while and hope the revival continues this season.
Excellent start, good support from the terraces and a superb controlled team performance.
I thought Rushall looked a well organised and at times capable team, but we really did outplay them all over the pitch.
Belper on Saturday will also be a real test of what this league entails, and a positive result will be a good indicator as to our prospects.
Well done to everyone last night, a great advert for non league football, not great for my blood pressure or my phone which flew out of my pocket when we scored! A decent report from the chronicle who were at the game last night
Great performance last night! What a difference a season makes. We seem to have a very capable squad full of lads who’ve got plenty of character and aren’t afraid to put their foot in. Difficult to pick a man of the match because it was a reet proper team performance!
People watch a winning team so lets hope the results keep coming!
Great game to watch and the right result without doubt.
MoM Boothy for his defending and also his attacking.
Welcome back to the Forum Greg7 - I have missed u !
Can we have Greenie back on as well please !
To eddiec,
We made so many chances last night I would not have been critical of the Mnager had it remained 1-1, we played some damn good football for this level and we WILL win this division.
WHS.
Don’t worry Eli, I’m here.
Excellent team performance, I was especially impressed with Dave Neville and Maylett who were outstanding, Hall looks like quite a find (thanks Lloydy).
We have good options upfront, Rudd has all the qualities required at this level, and Foster is just Foster. (That’s as close as I can get to a compliment). Add MM to the mix and in my opinion that’s the best front 3 we’ve had in the last 3 seasons.
Rushall were really nothing special, as I said to Neil their team looked like they had all moved up to play at this level whereas you can tell most of our players are in honesty too good for this division. Good football or not, the two huge lads upfront says a lot about what their plan B is. They looked naive compared to us.
As for the officials I agree some decisions were bizarre at best but I was glad to see that common sense prevailed when the referee correctly overruled his assistance and gave us a corner. You won’t see that again this season and more’s the pity.
Well done Gary and the lads.
An excellent all round performance, well worth the money!
Especially in front of a good crowd, if we keep the standard up the numbers will grow and therefore more income
It’s great to see how popular and complimentary this thread is, a testimonial to a great start to the season.
I’m impressed that whilst we are clearly a more physical outfit this season we are also playing good football.
Point taken Greenie, I even found myself calling him Fozzie! Whatever next?
To be fair his scoring record so far and his delight at slotting the late winner is slowly winning me over.
It’s already been said but the vocal support at a home game was excellent
Roll on Saturday.
The Foster thing is quite interesting, and tells us a lot about human (i.e. the average football fan in this case) nature, namely universal hypocrisy and the ability to compartmentalise things.
From some of his antics in the past, Foster doesn’t come across as the greatest advertisement for human decency. (Now’s your time to butt in and claim that “away from the football field” he’s almost certainly a model of decency, and I would expect a few Witton fans to now defend him given the fact that he looks like he’s a great acquisition for us.)
Football fans (and humans) being what they are, all is forgiven as long as he gets 40 goals for us, right, fellas? But remember, when he’s being not very pleasant to the opposition, put yourself in their shoes for an instant and ask if they deserve it. (“'Course they do, they’re the opposition”, is the average football fan’s not very well thought out mantra.)
Christiano Ronaldo’s quite obviously not a particularly pleasant person, but United fans overlooked it because he did so much for them (not so much last season, it has to be said) on the football field. Football is so tribal that almost any defect in one of “our” players is overlooked.
Anyway, enough of the philosophising, yer average fan’s not a philosopher. He just wants 40 goals from our best striker, whether his name’s Foster, whether he kicks the opposition, whether he play-acts, or not. Put him in a compartment when he’s on the football field - who cares what his personality is as long as he puts them in the back of the net.
If he gets 40 goals this season (entirely possible given his record until now) and we get promoted, all his defects will be forgiven - (nearly) all fans, given human hypocrisy, will be chanting his name. He’s a Witton player now, eh, fellas? Everyone deserves a second chance…
Good post billywho.
Alan Smith Leeds to United, Owen Liverpool to United, Tevez United to City, Campbell Spurs to Arsenal - the better the player then often the more disliked they are, until they come to play for your club of course!
As far as I am concerned ‘Fozzie’ has done more for Witton Albion in six games than Dean Crowe did in the 12 months he was here. A lot is to do with the player’s attitude and Foster’s effort on the pitch is first class. He is a ‘clever’ player too and that sometimes means he knows when to go down rather than stay on his feet (but he does not make the decisons, referees do)!
On his present form he is likely to be quickly forgiven by Wittoners!
His footballing ability has never been in question, as long as he plays the game hard but fair (or as fair as football can be nowadays) then that’s fine. If he resorts to any of the antics we have seen in the past to get players unjustly sent off, then I would hope he would be shown the door (as I hope would happen to any player), regardless of the number of goals he will undoubtedly score. I am sure that this will remain a hypothetical situation.
Sadly we see disgraceful play acting all too often by highly paid so-called professionals, with no punishment that would act as a deterrent. For example, I am disgusted that Ashley Cole coninues to be selected for England after his antics to get a fellow professional sent off a couple of years ago. That incident should have seen his international career finished in addition to a long ban from the domestic game. I am sure a few punishments like that handed out would bring about a very swift change in attitude, as all the players know that their every action will be caught on camera.
Billywho, I think you have got the wrong end of the stick! Your quote that “Christiano Ronaldo’s quite obviously not a particularly pleasant person” is very strange.
The general dislike of CR is from jealous ABUs and almost entirely for his on-field antics. Do you really have an informed view as to what he is like off the field? Please ignore any commentary from rags such as The Sun, Hello etc.! And also please take into account that he is a young single man who happens to be a multi-millionaire.
If you had substituted say Joey Barton, Craig Bellamy, Jonathan Woodgate or indeed John Lawless in your missive, then I would have agreed
Going off the subject here folks. Maybe need the recent postings moving to another area of this Forum
You could move Billywho’s posting to the “what are you on about?” section.
Please don’t include me in your universal hypocracy sweeping statement.
That Rushall Olympic number 10, he was a big lad! (Move that to the “Big Strikers” forum!
