Witton Albion 2-1 Rushall Olympic

Don’t know why the server went down, I reported to the hosting provider when I got back from the game and they sorted it within a minute.

Anyway, to the game. 1 - 1 would have been a travesty. It would not have flattered Witton to have repeated the 6 goal haul from Saturday. Rushall’s 'keeper was their MoM by a country mile, he had an outstanding game. His performance, combined with an incredible number of desperate blocks and a quite disgraceful and indefensible decision not to award a penalty for a clear deliberate handball (excellent photographic evidence now on the front page of the official site), almost ensured the game finished with a surreal scoreline, however justice was done eventually.

Rushall had the one shot on target I’m glad we got the win we thourouly deserved well dome the Albs and bring on the Belper!!

well done witton, tbf there keeper was awesome tonight and kept them in the game but 3 points were thoroughly deserved :woohoo:

I have to say that my initial belief that we will win this league and Foster will get 40+ goals was confirmed by this performance. This team finished fifth last season and we could have won 6-1 again but for desperate defending and a keeper who had a dream game.
Onwards and upwards. One question. Why did the Ref stand still for 10 seconds or more just outside the penalty area when we scored our first goal? Refs head for the half way line when a team scores. It struck me he was desperately looking for a reason to disalow it. His performance was dire and it did look at times as if Rushall had brought him with them.

Fantastic result. Rushall keeper made a few good saves and was easily their MOM. We played some great football and really did deserve the 3 points. The whole team worked hard and it was again hard to pick a MOM. Rudd chased every ball, Foster never stopped working. Maylett beat their defenders every time. The Midfield played well and controlled the game, we were solid at the back. Pritch and Booth dealt with everything thrown at them.

Rushall were a useful team and IMO will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. A very good 3 points. Well done lads.

SAY WE ARE ALBION SAY WE ARE ALBION

A good advert for non-league football last night. Fast, flowing football, as good a team performance as you’ll see and a very very good Rushall goalkeeper.

In all my years in football (and refereeing) I’ve never seen such a stonewall penalty. I don’t often make comment about officials but that was one very poor decision.

MOM - Gary Finley for assembling a very able team.

GE

Excellent result last night, the late goal was deserved through the amount of chances we had. Rushall look a decent side that do play some good football. One thing I have noticed is that this season, we have a squad that can battle and get stuck in AND play football. Excellent work Gary + Co. Excellent support from behind the goal too.

Albion! Albion!

Somebody act quick - we have someone posting fraudulently as GE! Can’t believe he’s giving a referee pelters!! Shame on you

Anyhow, thought the officials were poor for both sides - just thankful for the last ditch winner.

A slight complaint though, why, when the opposition have just one man up front did we persist 2nd half with the holding midfielder (Nev) and a flat back four! He was completely wasted and the reason many of our attacks broke down due to lack of support from mid-field. Either get him more involved, because he is obviously capable, or the full-backs must be encouraged to push further up. IMO

Anyway, 6 points can’t be bad - come on the Albion! and thanks to Len and Di, the most expensive football match I have ever attended!

I think it is a little presumptious to be critical of a Manager who has won his first two games with a goal difference of 8-2 and which, with any luck, could have been 12-2!!
