Witton welcome Northern Premier League East Division leaders Stockton Town to the U Lock It Stadium on Tuesday night in a re scheduled Isuzu FA Challenge Trophy First Qualifying Round tie.
Football is of little importance in the circumstances at a time like this as we pay our respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. There will be a minute’s silence before the game and the players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
Stockton have made an impressive start to the season, winning all their league games so far, the latest being a 4-2 home success against North Shields last Wednesday night.
The Anchors only blemish to date coming in a 3-2 home defeat in the Emirates FA Challenge Cup to Pontefract Collieries, so Albion face a tough game.
Witton will be encouraged by their victory in last week’s league game against Macclesfield FC, and will need to be somewhere near that performance to continue their progress in the competition, where a trip to either Hebburn Town or Trafford FC awaits.
Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 7.45pm.
