Witton face another tough game on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Trafford FC in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Four wins from the last six league games has propelled Albion to sixth in the table and given them a good chance of making the play offs.

Two clean sheets in successive games against Ramsbottom United and Prescot Cables has also benefited them as goal difference could be a deciding factor at the end of the season.

Trafford are also within reach of the top five and will be looking to complete the double over John Macken’s team.

The reverse fixture at Shawe View saw Trafford come out on top by the odd goal in three in a game that was delayed during the second half due to a medical emergency.

Substitute Mike Burke gave the home side the lead on 82 minutes befor Mike Koral equalised for the Albion four minutes from time.

The game appeared to heading for a draw until Mike Burke’s second of the game on 90 minutes decided the outcome in Trafford’s favour.

Trafford currently sit eighth in the table and are unbeaten in their last six games, picking up sixteen points in the process.

Their away form is mixed with six wins, three draws and six defeats on the road so anything could happen.

Witton will need to be at their best in order to continue their charge for the play offs and the fact they have kept themselves in the hunt, whilst being without a player who has been a major part of the rise up the table is testament to the determination of the squad that has been assembled.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 3pm.

Not sure what went wrong today - but we weren’t at the races. We played some good football at times and we had long spells in the first half camped in the Trafford half but without creating any real chances.

Inevitably we paid the penalty with a defensive error leading to their goal in the 2nd half and after that we never troubled their keeper - or their defence for that matter.

Disappointing to lose, but hats off to Trafford we just didn’t do enough in the final third to make a difference.

Not a great day, we had possession and some nice play but no cutting edge, not sure why we moved to 5 3 2 but it didn’t work nor did any of the changes tbh.

For me Putnam should have started to compete with Trafford’s physical style, they were strong and compact with pace and caused problems. Early days but Baxter worked hard but created little.

Maybe give Igoe a run upfront. Results went ok for us but we have to get our team and form back asap!

I think Jon will get there so keep the faith. UTA

In many ways similar to last week: plenty of possession and nice football without creating much in the final third of the pitch against well organised opposition.

Last week we capitalised on a defensive error for the only goal, but this week Trafford did.
