Witton Albion v. Trafford

Another home defeat in a game that it appears we created a number of chances but are struggling to make the most of our opportunities.

Another concern for me is that on a night when the opposition haven’t travelled very far and no other football on television but we couldn’t break 300 at the turnstiles.

Yes, some neat football in midfield but didn’t create enough actual chances up front and not clinical enough when we did.

Also not being able to keep a clean sheet doesn’t help.
With a bit more quality in the final third and tightening up at the back we could have had at least 5 points from the last 3 games, rather than the 1 point actually achieved.

On attendances, there’s no doubt that midweek games significantly affect the figures. Our previous lowest this season (329 against Vauxhall Motors) was also on a Tuesday night as was our lowest last season (263 against City of Liverpool).

Last season we played Trafford on a Saturday and the gate was 502. All categories were down, but most significant reduction was in the number of juniors at the game. Perhaps not surprising on a cold night during Term Time.

Having said all that, recent results won’t have helped.

Congratulations to both Ollie Hitchcox and Elliot Rokka who made their 100th appearance in an Albion shirt in the game.

Elliot has managed 21 goals in that time with Ollie netting three.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Pitch Fund collection at last night’s game…

The total amount raised was £166.

Thank you as always to Tracey Collins for her amazing efforts.
