Had enough chances to have won but the referee completely spoilt the game second half constantly stopping the game.

Gate - 220

Mom - Sponsor chose Paul Booth - can’t argue with that.

We dominated the game but didn’t create enough chances although we had some superb approach play.
Their keeper made a first class one handed save to deny Black but too many other balls into the box were easy for him.
However this was a vast improvement on the Matlock game and Whitby certainly came for a draw with time wasting very early on.
The referee was poor, always tells you something when both sides think he’s sh*te.
How he only added on 4 mins with all the bookings, subs and time wasting I’ll never know.
We can go there and win on Saturday because they are distinctly average.

It will be a completely different game at the weekend. They came looking for a point and thanks to a good shot stopper they got one. Given their league position they surely can’t afford to play the same way again. Our forward line ought to be able to find more space and perhaps catch them on the break.

Rabbit said to me early doors that he thought 4 points from the two fixtures would put us within touching distance of safety. We can still achieve this.

Two very accurate posts.

We certainly had enough of the ball second half to make it 3 points instead of 1. Whitby played practically all the second half with 11 men (and subsequently 10 men) behind the ball. A point was better for them than it was for us.

Some of the approach play was very good but the final ball into the box was too close to the keeper every time. We were the better side but after 2 games without scoring we need to start finding the net.

We can go to Whitby and win - and now we need to.

It was a very important game for us to win and I think Gary and the players realised this and from the first minute we looked like the only team going to score, unfortunately lady luck was absent from WP last night. We played some great build up play but crossing that close to a massive keeper like him is just wasteful, we were unlucky not to score a few times but when you see one of your centre halves go on a 40 yard run beating all the challenges made on him then curling a 20 yard shot past a diving 7ft keeper, only to see it crash back off the upright it starts you thinking that it may not be your night. Its a must we win now on sat and have a good time all of you who are making a weekend out of it I wish I could join you.
Oh just a short word about the officials SH1TE…

Stu

A better performance than Saturday but we just lacked in the final third.

We had plenty of the ball (possibly too much if anything, meaning we never got the opportunity to spring a counter-attack), but were just lacking that little bit of quality, or that little bit of luck - both of which are usually in short supply for teams in our position!

I’ve seen us play worse this season. I’ve seen us create less last season (Ferriby away anyone?!).

It’s important not to lose on Saturday. Whitby will be looking for a win, so will hopefully be a bit more adventurous. A draw isn’t a disaster for us, but we obviously could do with the 3 points.

The Nantwich game may actually suit us more. A team that will come and attack us, and allow us to play on the counter. They’ll be expected to beat us, so the pressure will be on them more than Witton.
