Witton Albion v. Widnes FC

Full Time Score from The U Lock It Stadium:

Witton Albion 1 Widnes FC 2.

Today’s Attendance: 407.

Albion slip to eleventh in the table following today’s results.

Difficult game against a team that played to their strengths and we didn’t deliver when we could despite some good football at times. No real complaints about the result says a lot. That said (and it’s not a criticism of the team) this would have been a different game with Hughes in the team.

We need to find an answer to the loss of Connor asap. Nice to see some old faces at the game and absolutely delighted to see Andy Lomas back in the fold, albeit with the game and result not being the best - but die hard Wittoners are used to that!!!

And big thank you to the Board member who made me most welcome today. It was much appreciated. Thank you.

Yes we missed Hughes who leads the line with pace and aggression plus goals strange lineup with Koral at left back and Haywood at right back it didnt work.

Losing Fogerty was a blow then taking Haywood off when Williams and Barrow were blowing was odd as well, we lost the midfield battle sadly.

Widnes had not much really but 2 keeper errors gifted then the goals. We did however play most of the football but wasted chances! Barrow nearly scored the goal of the season, then we concede from a nothing header.

We need to solve the problem of Hughes missing, I’d put Igoe in there and put Lawrie in midfield if another signing isn’t an option! We can play better than that but you have to win your battles first then let the football takeover.

Chance on Tuesday to bounce back I reckoned on 9 points out of these 4 home games. UTA

Problem we have is specific players haven’t been playing well for weeks yet are still selected?

Williams has been abysmal for 6 games running now, we have young Billington on the bench who bring energy every time he comes on.

Young Igoe isn’t good enough yet, Duckworth can’t do it on his own .

We will miss Connor’s goal input massively. Him ( Duckworth) and Hughes were a great partnership as both occupied the centre halves and were on the same wave length.

Then again when was the last time we kept a clean sheet. 1-0 win would be nice every now and again!

Football’s all about opinions that’s why we love it. UTA

Bit of a flat game which was going to come around after some great performances these last few weeks.

Difficult first half with the wind causing problems for both teams, nice to see Will Jones back at Wincham Park, great target man.

This is an incredibly tight division all teams capable of taking points off each other.

Yesterday was always going to happen, we play good football let’s carry on.
