Witton welcome local rivals Altrincham to The NetDec Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture. The Robins endured a disastrous campaign last time round, culminating in their relegation to the Evo-Stik League, after a long spell at nonleague’s top levels. Management changes and a rebuilding process began in Pre Season and a number of players exited the door at Moss Lane. New faces have come in and will be looking to bring back some of those days back to the club but, it’s not going to be easy. Amongst the new arrivals at Moss Lane, are familiar faces to Witton Albion in Ben Harrison & Josh Hancock who played a major role in helping Albion into the Premier Division back in 2011/12. The new Altrincham manager, Phil Parkinson also spent time with the club as a player. This fixture represents the first league meeting between the two clubs for quite a while. Recent fixtures have been limited to Cup games, particularly the Cheshire Senior Cup and one memorable occasion for everyone connected to Witton Albion. The FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie staged at Moss Lane in October 2011 and Witton shocked their then higher-ranked hosts 2-0 with goals from Alex Titchiner and Mark Buchan. The Robins began the season rather tentatively with so many new faces but have now begun climbing the table after two wins. Witton will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season but it will be a tough test, as derby games usually are. Kick off at The NetDec Stadium is 3pm.
