Bad performance today especially first half. Shakey in defence. No width, no pace and no creativity from midfield. Not one player had a good game although Prince tried hard. Still, at least JT will be happy as the keeper wasn’t great either
We lost it first half with a dreadful performance, badly missing Devine and I assume Tames to injury and we have so little in reserve we end up with a right footed central midfielder at left midfield a right footed centre half at left back and therefore we had no balance at all. Fair play to Alty they were bright and pacy and cut us open at will first half, second half we were a bit better but we need to play 3 in midfield we haven’t got a midfield 2 with enough energy and quality at this level.
Still we have started ok and with a bit of luck and the injuries cleared up we will do ok but I don’t expect us to challenge unless we can get some quality in. UTA
One defeat to pre season favourites and we are written off!!

WHS.[/quote]Nobody is writing anybody off. It is called constructive criticism and after today’s showing it is well warranted… in my opinion he set up all wrong today and we were left very exposed with nowhere to go. I am sure Carl will have learnt from it. UTA
I wonder how long the lad, ‘Caesar’ is off fitness as he will add a bit of bite to the midfield.
None of this seasons signings would have got into last seasons team in my opinion We have moved up a league but not strengthened the team
Second best to absolutely everything today!! Not sure the formation or the starting eleven was the correct choice. Playing hopley and jones gave us no pace at all and the ball just didn’t stick up top either. Surely after half an hour our aimless “lump” upfield wasn’t working and needed a change through either personnel or tactics. Unfortunately Williams doesn’t have the legs to compete against the better teams at this level but still a useful squad player. Really poor by gardener for the first goal as he completely bottled a header that led to the goal and the lack of closing down for the second contributed to a cracking strike from Hancock. Second half was a bit better but we could have played all night and not scored. Fair play to Alty as they looked half decent but that was down to our lack of effort and closing down (not something I’ve seen from this team for a long time)
