Witton Albion vs Atherton Collieries (PSF)

Witton complete their pre season campaign on Tuesday night when they welcome Northern Premier League Premier Division Atherton Collieries to the U Lock It Stadium.

Pre season has been a mixture results-wise but performances have been promising, particularly with a completely new squad and the management team will have seen what progress has been made and what is still required.

It has been a bit difficult also with three games being cancelled due to various issues but that is unavoidable at times.

Tuesday’s game against Atherton Collieries means Albion have the best part of a fortnight before the new season gets underway, unless anything is arranged in the meantime.

Another tough test can be expected as both teams can prepare for the league season ahead.

Kick off at the U Lock It Stadium is 7.45pm.

I thought we played some nice football, good on the press and looked pretty fit. T

The downside seems to be our lack of size through the spine and cutting edge upfront, which I think will need to be improved if we are to challenge.

Liked the 14 (Bernal?) came on as a sub, who has played well everytime he has played.

Hope we get another game in before the start, think we need one. UTA

Kenyatta Bernal was a prominent figure in the Development Squad a few seasons ago and played for the first team in patches, was highly thought of at the time by his respective coaches.

Had trials last season with Sheffield Wednesday.

Is he classed as a trialist, or is he part of our squad?

Not heard anything officially.
