Following three successive wins in pre season Witton welcome Cymru Premier League Bala Town to Wincham Park on Saturday afternoon. The Lakesiders ended last season in third place in the league and qualified for this season’s Europa League under the guidance of Colin Caton, who had a spell at Witton as a player and have already progressed through to the Second Qualifying Round where they will take on Belgian giants Standard Liege. Their victory in Malta against FC Valetta was their first success away from home in European competition and came at the fifth attempt. They were originally drawn at home but have since switched the game to Belgium although it was under consideration to play the tie in Cardiff. Witton will go into the game in confident mood although Bala Town will certainly test them as the Albion prepare for the challenges that lie ahead when the new season gets underway. The management team have assembled a competitive squad and the team are beginning to show their potential which will hopefully give everyone cause for optimism. Bank Holiday Monday saw a momentous occasion with having supporters back in the stadium and things went well both on and off the field which now allows the club to increase the numbers permitted which can only help the players. Kick Off at Wincham Park is 3pm.
