I have to agree with WHS, we played 45 in the same conditions, the referee could no doubt see the linesmen and both goals the game should have restarted and monitored the situation, the pictures make it look worse than it was.
All I can say is the ref saved Boston today. For 45,minutes we out thought. Out played a team 2 leagues above us. Never been so proud of our lads. If the game was completed I have no doubt we would of won. They now have have a chance to reassess and take us more serious. We may loose on Tuesday but that performance today makes me proud to be a Witton supporter well done to all the players and management. UTA

As a spectator sport it always helps if you can see something, todays game was a bit like formula 1, where you see a car in a split second then nothing for a while.
We were told in the club that the ref couldn’t see both his assistants and that’s why he abandoned it. Disappointing as we were 1-0 up and well on top, I won’t be able to make it Tuesday, £18 I won’t see again and more importantly what looked a nasty injury to Williams.
Andrew Simpson reported on Twitter that Paul Williams injury was not as bad as was first thought.
Will the replay on Tuesday be played to a finish or will there be another replay at Boston if it is a draw? I assume the latter?
Technically, Tuesday isn’t a replay as the original game wasn’t completed. I have seen something to the effect that if Tuesday’s game is drawn the replay would take place at Boston the following week.
Whatever, well done Mr. McCauley for saying the ref was right, don’t want to upset him for the replay!! See you Tuesday if I can!!

They were waving florescent flags for goodness sake and there were plenty of High Viz jackets in the ground.
Absolutely outraged at a comment on the Boston forum saying that Witton are a disgrace for allowing the game to go ahead in the first place (Refs decision not Wittons)
He went on to say how the Boston fans were directed to the Social club before the game and put money over the bar (were they forced?) and the most outrageous comment saying that at half time after again being dragged into the bar as soon as we sold out of food the game was abandoned!!
Firstly why would Witton want the game abandoned when we were winning?
The comments suggest that we were out to milk money out of the Boston fans, absolute rubbish and at no point did i see them complaining about spending money on beer when they were drinking it!
The decision to start the game was absolutely the ref’s to make and take, no one else involved apart from perhaps his linesmen/assistants. Judging by the cheer from the Boston fans when the announcement to postpone the game was made, I would suggest that most of them were mightily relieved rather than angry with the postponement. I think the post on the Boston forum may have been a bit tongue in cheek and wouldn’t take any notice.
I agree with the last post. And anyways I bet the Boston Manager was in the Ref’s ear to get it called off!! (No, I have no proof anymore than the Boston forum has.)
WHS.
Have to disagree with you WHS I couldn’t see from one end to the other. I didn’t even know that Williams had got injured until I saw a stretcher going on the pitch.
The ref was wrong to start the match, it looked no worse at half time than it did at kick off. Surprised the Boston lot weren’t pressurising the ref to abandon the match given we were winning and looked like winning the match.
Let’s hope we haven’t given them a ticket to the next round with a few of our better players out.
A gesture of goodwill by the club would be nice for Tuesday, and appreciated by both sets of fans, half price admission maybe? After all the money it makes will be extra
I think there chants of " call it off, call it off, call it off, " were meant to pressure the ref maybe hence the surprise at them blaming Witton lol.
Just a good job they didn’t notice our sneakily installed fog generating machine over by the canal…
Ah, that explains it. I always wondered what happened to the fog machines when Top of the Pops finished. I hadn’t realised we bought one.
Still have to pay Boston and the ref etc again. The law, as I understand it is the ref, standing on the centre point of the pitch must be able to see both goals and there is little doubt he could, but I agree he should never have started the game.

tomorrow nights tie has just got more interesting Dennis Greene has left Boston tonight …

We’ll be having pans people as the half time entertainment next
Dennis Greene? Was he the one in the funny hat?
