Witton Albion vs Boston United (FAT3Q).

Witton welcome Boston United back to The NetDec Stadium for the third time on Tuesday night and will be hoping that the game can finally be completed. A convincing win at the weekend over Romulus will have given the team a big lift as league games have been so scarce in recent weeks. The Pilgrims also had goals in their game, sharing six with Stalybridge Celtic after coming back to level in the last five minutes having fallen behind twice. A home tie with Vanarama National League Chester FC still awaits the winners so both teams will be looking to progress. Witton have been very good at home this season but will surely be tested by a team from two leagues above. Kick off at The NetDec Stadium is 7.45pm.

Additional Information: Should the game be drawn, the replay will take place at Boston United’s Jakemans Stadium on Saturday, 10th December with a 3pm kick off. There a two other possible scenarios, a Witton win in Tuesday night’s game will see them host National League Chester FC at The NetDec Stadium in the Buildbase FA Trophy First Round again with a 3pm kick off. Should Witton not be involved in the FA Trophy, we will travel to Basford United in a re arranged Evo-Stik Division One South fixture - again 3pm kick off.

There is a 4th scenario…if the game is off again, we play Boston at home next Saturday.

Thanks TT. It had crossed my mind but I was trying not to think about that one!

The fixture doesn’t appear on the Evo-Stik League website fixture list for tomorrow night at present.

It’s on the FA website though, so I suspect it will be going ahead for tomorrow, subject to the weather

It’s definitely been confirmed so it’s probably an oversight.

Has anybody thought of inviting Boston’s team and supporters to our Christmas bash? By tomorrow night will be on first name terms with most of their supporters

Reports that Tames will be out till january with a badly sprained ankle, not great news but could be worse, the immediate worry is putting a team out v Boston ? I guess same team as saturday with Tola up front with Rob. UTA

Frozen ground roundabouts and a yellow fog warning for tomorrow (patchy oopt north)…

Forecast is cloudy with a temperature around 8 degrees so should be no problem.

I can’t believe anyone at Witton has not contacted the league to put on our game tomorrow , just our BIGGEST game this season so far .!!
No wonder we don’t get gates , no-one knows we are playing !

We have a game every Saturday and most Tuesdays (unless the weather has a say in it).
If people wanted to come to a game it wouldn’t take much to find out who and where we’re playing.

But I have to agree, we need to be more proactive and dynamic if we are to attract support and investment. During the summer could we not put on pop concerts or similar events? We need to think “Outside the Box” if we are to move forward. We may even have to contemplate a name change to Northwich Albion. New people moving to the town know "Northwich " they will never have heard of “Witton”. If we want to survive these are the kind of things we MUST consider whether we want to do it or not. We simply cannot go on as we are and hope for consistent success.

Shame on u for suggesting dropping Witton off the name - why not Witton Albion of Northwich ?

I couldn’t possibly support any team with the word “Northwich” in the name. .sick

The pitch is fine at the present time so hopefully, we can finally get this game played and let’s hope for a positive outcome from our side of things.

I see where your coming from but its not a name change we need to galvanise the club off the field. At the moment the playing side is brilliant probably the best since the early 1990’s so its now we need to consolidate on this. Its off the field we need to look at. The idea of pop concerts was one I mooted several years ago when we had several fans who were quite friendy with members of the Charlatans and I think its feasible still now.
Another is to get into the successful local companies around here. The Hut Group is fantastic as we’ve seen in the press and there are loads of others on the doorstep, Thor, Cygnet, Oakmere Garages, Roberts Bakery to name but a few. It really needs a driving force of an effective commercial manager to get into these companies. Maybe host an event at the Club inviting reps from all the companies to exchange ideas and intelligence to mutually help one another after all they’d be meeting on neutral ground with no axe to grind. What would be in it for us? Well probably not a big cash injection but it would put us out there show that we are here and that we care about the local scene. Who knows if we impressed then maybe local companies would then at least come to occassional matches on a corporate basis and maybe sponsor a game or too. At least we’d be trying to make friends and show the outside world that we are capable of putting on a forum and that we are around. Better than just sitting around waiting for something to happen like the sale of land around us.
Sorry if i’m out of order with this not critising anyone but just feel off the field we are drifting at the moment when its easier to get things going off the field when your successful on it. On ward and Upward UTA

For those who cannot make the game there is live Radio commentary on BBC Radio Lincolnshire tonight.:clap

Trouble is that local companies do have that Nortwich name in their address if not in their title and as far as people who have just moved here they recognise the word Northwich but probably have no idea where Witton the place or the football club are. I hate the idea of a name change but we have to do something or we can never have the success we crave.
WHS.

Good luck tonight. If there is any justice, after dominating the abandoned match, you will get through.
