Witton Albion vs Chasetown Sat 23rd Jan

Despite the home page of the website currently saying " this season is over " it is Chasetown known as the " scholars " up next.

Let’s learn from the Cammell Laird game, show our class and teach them a lesson in football.

If we lose on Saturday then maybe the home page will be proved right!!!

Cheatstown.
Don’t forget their unsporting approach at their place.

My apologies. I’ve been at hospital all day and have had to write an important and time critical reference for someone this evening, but I updated the site as soon as I could, even before getting any tea! I’ll be wasting away, but anything to please Eli

Well done Mike !

The reference was’nt for GF was it ?

Lets hope we can give them a caneing, and chase them out of town with a win for us,otherwise the head teacher may want a word.

Looking at their forum they have a full caoch coming tommorrow so we should see some away support for a change, will mean everyone getting behind the team from the off.

Big game tomorrow but whatever the outcome, with half a season left, will not make it a defining moment.Strangely enough,my glass is half full for this fixture.I think we will edge it by a single goal.

They have a very good away record, similar goals for and against, but they have enjoyed one more victory than ourselves. We play excellent attacking football at home ,use the full width of the pitch and all at high tempo.I think these attributes will prove a little too much for Chasetown to handle.

Lets hope a few more spectators are tempted by this one, because Tuesdays gate was bloody awful.

Whilst watching a re-run of the Madchester derby this afternoon,i spotted Rod Thornley in the dugout.

FORZA WITTON AND ALL WHO SAIL IN HER.

FT 1-2

We look a mid-table side at best. Without a win in seven games and that includes defeats by lower opposition (AFC Fylde and Runcorn)!

I can’t work out why the leading goalscorer starts on the bench, nor why we played the formation we did. As I said after Tuesday’s game Lamb is a good target man and reasonable at holding the ball up (a kind of poor man’s Mike Moseley)! Lamb does not have the goalscoring quality of Foster and has scored something like 3 times in all his appearances.

If we’re playing one up front it has to be Foster and the formation only works with Heler on the right, Tandy the left and Maylett playing behind the frontman. Formations are as much to do with the players and their individual abilities with today’s personnel I believe we should have played 4-4-2. We looked much better after Foster came on and his goal was expertly taken.

We are not good enough to challenge for automatic promotion and I doubt we will make the play-offs.

The manager has had plenty of support in bringing in the players he has wanted and can have no complaints over the squad, in fact I believe the players we have are probably capable! How long do you persevere with the manager, especially if we get nothing on Tuesday night (which I very much doubt)! With money being tight my immediate vote would go to Brodie and Pritch as player/assistant manager.

Cheatstown were of course timewasting ridiculously from the first minute but no bookings! The referee had absolutely no control over the game and should have sent their player off for the challenge on Dylan in the first half, but we were the first to be booked and get one sent off! The ref was not the reason we lost but he was absolutely pathetic (putting it mildly, a complete and utter joke)!

Not good enough.

I think we can start building for next season now ? really not sure about the manager he can get players in ok and proved we can play well but we are so inconsistent ! he does not appear to fix the apparent weak areas eg he has 5 strikers and only 2 relatively poor fullbacks who have poor distribution and do not defend at all well which exposes the centre backs, which is why imo we concede goals so easily, we as fans almost expect us to concede every game. picking upon points raised earlier by others the central midfield has little creativity, so we rely upon our wingers to create and at the moment brad and pete are not on top form ( although i do rate them )and jamie missing today so unless we can rediscover our shape & form and score some of the chances created and we have really to tighten up the defence or we will continue to struggle. :frowning:

very disapointing overall another night fed up ? still look forward to the trip to Kidsgrove and see if we can put it right.

Can we have the last 2 posts in the correct thread please ?

I’ve posted my thoughts on the “other” Witton Albion VS Cheatstown thread!
