Witton continue their Pre Season programme on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Hallmark Security League Premier Division side City of Liverpool FC to Wincham Park. The Merseyside club have undergone changes in the summer with former Witton striker Simon Burton departing as manager and being replaced by former Warrington Town central defender Craig Robinson. The playing squad has also seen some new arrivals, most notably prolific striker Craig Cairns who has joined from Runcorn Town and has already netted six times during the pre season campaign. A couple of faces within the City of Liverpool squad maybe familiar to Witton supporters in Ben Greenop & David Forbes, two players who had brief spells with Witton in recent seasons. Their last three friendlies have all ended in defeat and all their games upto and inclding this one have all been played away from home. Witton have had mixed results so far in pre season but have shown glimpses of good play considering the number of changes during games but as the campaign continues, they will be looking to progress and build on certain aspects of the game. Once the team becomes more settled that will surely help. A difficult game can be expected again as the season gets ever closer. Kick off at Wincham Park is 3pm.
