Witton Albion vs Clitheroe

As one of last season’s challengers Clitheroe have had a woeful start to the league campaign but they did thump Skem 4-0 in the cup yesterday.

[b]Former Premier League defender joins Clitheroe

Clitheroe (D1N) have bolstered their back line with the signing of former Blackburn Rovers defender Marlon Broomes.

Broomes joins following spells at Tranmere Rovers and Stockport County.

Presumably he’s a sweeper.

Been brushing up on your football knowledge then Dodger ?

Might be a good player when the dust settles.

Does he play as the sweeper?

He does TT,there is absolutely no broom for doubt.

Wonder if he’s got besom buddies in the squad or do they bristle if he flies off the handle with them.

I think Alex T will brush past him easily with his pace.
Gotta to say after last Saturday at Ossett I think our young team and I include our management lads in that, are developing nicely. I’m pleasantly suprised with the season so far, (Lancaster game apart which I missed anyway).
We seem to have a team playing for one another, well motivated, with some skill, tremendous effort and work rate, and enthusiasm. My only “Beef” really is please please please lads play it on the deck. we have pace and movement up front so playing it on the deck most of the time anyway gives us a great chance of scoring goals.
8 foot up in the air is a lottery but on the deck we are lethal as illustrated at Ossett Saturday!!
Onward and Upward with Mr Pritchards Red and White army!!

From the Clitheroe site:

“6. Witton Albion - Now the best supported club in the league. Have misfired since their fall from grace three years ago. Often bottle it once the going gets tough.”

Perhaps Pritch should pin this up on our dressing room wall?

From the August Fair Play League Table:

Witton 6th with 4 yellow cards from 6 games.
Clit heroe 19th with 9 yellows and 3 reds.

Let the football doing the talking.
