Witton Albion vs Gainsborough Trinity.

A month into the new season and Witton finally get to play a Saturday home game, as they welcome Gainsborough Trinity to Wincham Park in a Northern Premier League fixture. The previously scheduled game being postponed due to Radcliffe being involved in the Emirates FA Challenge Cup. Gainsborough have had a disappointing start to the season and find themselves in seventeenth place in the league, having lost three of their five league games so far, including away defeats at Nantwich Town and Matlock Town respectively. They have however progressed through to the next stage of the Emirates FA Challenge Cup, having narrowly beaten Banbury United following a replay. Last season’s games both ended all square as defences gained the upper hand so this game could prove a tight encounter, although Albion will be looking to continue their 100% home record which has yet to see them concede a goal at Wincham Park. A number of players have moved on from last season’s Trinity squad but they still pose a threat with the players they still have. Witton can now turn their attention to the league again following last weekend’s cup success at Seaham Red Star and the enforced break in midweek, due to Atherton Collieries replay will hopefully have given the team a chance to rest and at the same time prepare for their latest challenge. Kick off at Wincham Park is 3pm.
