Big improvement from the Fylde game but the two first half substitutions ( Maylett and Tandy )for injuries were a blow for the Albion and in the end a point was no more than we deserved. The new keeper Vernon had to make three vital saves to keep us in the game.
I thought we deserved to win todays game! We started with Peter Heler at right back presumably due to no other option and that really disrupted the team from the off, with the injuries to Brad and Jamie we were in dissaray for a while! Ruddinho up front should be great with his record, but not sure really (he’s totally commiited though!) the new keeper made two brilliant saves and we were unlucky with a couple of chances late on from Pritch and Cadwallader, we’ll just have to take the point!!
Going to be one or two who have a dig again but lets be honest who in this league (or the one above) could afford to lose the quality of Tandy and Maylett in the first 20 mins?
Grantham Kicked us off the park for the first 1/2 hour and the ref did nothing then Foster showed his frustration by saying somethng (wrongly) and was booked straight away, Brad was hit that high he went off with a rib injury! and there is a photograph to prove it!
We had the chances but failed again to put the ball into the net, still lots to play for but talking to the directors afterwards the attendance is becoming a real concern. Its easy to support when things are going well, its now that the team and the board need people to come… otherwise whats the point?
Directors should be concerned - attendance 219 with 20 of them from Grantham.
This time of year always sees a drop in attendance
I thought we finished the game looking very strong and were slightly unlucky not to have won.Two key, flair players picking up injuries so early on would have had lesser teams knocked out of their stride.Grantham tried to do exactly that and i thought we gave as good as we got.It was an ideal game for Stuart up front,he ran across the line and put himself about which was exactly what was required early on.
Peter Heler had a fantastic game,in a position which to most of us looked unusual. His performance was that good, that it would fool a neutral into thinking he has played there all his career.During the second half he got past his opposing number with ridiculous ease.
The two new players had very good games.Infact the goalie made a couple of match-winning saves and Grantham will think of themselves as unlucky.
I cannot help feeling disappointed by Grantham’s approach. They are a big club at this level but i was not in the slightest bit entertained by them.
Yes and the way Grantham celebrated you’d have thought they’d won the league!! On the attendance front yes it’s a concern I’m sure, you just can’t force them to come (escpecially at this wretched level!!). Wonder what it’ll be Teusday? (I’ll be there!)
Before the game we probably expected 3 points.
Having lost key players during the game and conceded a somewhat unlucky goal then a point was a decent result.
We saw the old combination of weak officials and mediocre opposition playing dirty.
There were two challenges in the first half which could have resulted in red cards and neither got yellows. The spineless referee could have made decisions which would have restricted Grantham’s dirty play but he only saw fit to book Steve Foster for dissent.
To be fair to the ref (god, how that hurts!) he overruled the slaphead liner at least 4 times, but how then can you trust the liner’s decisions on anything else?
I can accept that some decisions will be beyond the capabilities of the trio of inept officials but how can they all miss a two footed challenge or a knee high assault from their close viewpoints when everyone else in the ground can see them clearly?
I have been on hols and missed 3 games what a turnaround and not a good one ? we seemed to have hit a purple patch playing 4 5 1, and it seems we have had to find a spot for steve foster and reverted to 4 4 2 and we are struggling is it co incidence or have other issues cost us and forced the change im not sure ? im a big fan of the old adage if its working dont change it. sorry also to hear clegg might be packing in I like him a lot.
Lets hope we can get going again soon we are in danger of getting left behind in the title race !
