Witton Albion vs Kidsgrove Athletic.

Full Time Score from The NetDec Stadium:

Witton Albion 3 Kidsgrove Athletic 0.

Excellent performance, really impressive.
Thoroughly enjoyable to watch, long may it continue.

Wooohooo - We have a team on our hands ! Early days - maybe, but there’s good things happening here.

The style we used made me feel it was Vics in the wrong shirts!! Never seen a Witton team play such direct, no messing football. May not be pretty but very effective, long may it continue.
WHS.

I can’t be certain, but I am sure that both Stamford and Kidsgrove were mentioned as 2 clubs who have been splashing the cash this closed season, and were favourites for promotion. If this is true, from what I have seen so far in the last 2 matches, we are going to be promoted, end of!

But we are Witton, and loosing one of our better players (Cameron Dalton), most probably for the season, may take its toll.

We need the fans to get behind the team, as from what I have witnessed so far, they are a great bunch of lads, and are looking as if they can do us proud.

Tonights attendance was shit poor, and we need our fans to get on down and support the team. If we don’t get down to Wincham Park, we may need to release some of our better players to make ends meet!

I am pleading to all our supporters to get behind the team now! We have something very exciting about to happen if you do. Carl has done a fantastic job in assembling this team, considering the travelling involved in this league. Let’s back Carl NOW! We are top of the league at the moment…lets make sure we stay that way!

well said. everybody was saying how bad last couple of years were and we have beat the 2 teams who are favourites for the league. .and by a good margin. the player need the fans to show up or like you said it could affect the budget…we need to keep this squad together and see where they take us…and for that we need the fans UTA

Last nights attendance was superb for the shit poor level we,re at. More than anyone in our division apart from Rushden and higher than half the games in the premier division. I really don,t know what you expect.

A terrific performance, I really dont get WHS and his assessment at all - yes at times it was direct ie fast to get forward but not long ball like V**s , we played really high tempo stuff and a fair bit on the deck We were very aggressive in the tackle and have added players who have pace, energy and quality, as other have said early days but very promising. As for the gates well its peak summer holidays so loads away I can think of at least 8 ever presents that were on holiday so probably a fair few more, pre season was not great in terms of attractive fixtures so it will take time for the missing fans to realise We are a good side and if we stay challenging gates will rise steadily. A great nights entertainment where if it had finished 6-0 Kidsgrove could not complain so dominant were we. UTA

After watching on Saturday ,I wasn’t surprised what happened last night . I get where Thatch is coming from , as a town we should be raking in far more support but this is Northwich we are talking about ,its fickle and apathetic ,with the catchment area we are certainly capable of it , but it will take a few wins and maybe a bit of a run in the cup for people to join the band wagon . It’s keeping them and sustaining that we have to do . All positive stuff at Witton at early doors .

THATCH TAVERN you always come on here with your doom and gloom posts that if crowds dont improve we’ll lose our best players.people are on holiday and working so how about a positive post for once,we are in a league where probably rushden will bring any away support so lets just get on with it and keep winning and then the crowds will come back without you 2 games in to the season saying player cuts will happen mooney

well said CJ.

Some really promising football, so once the team get used to each other it can only get better. Yes there are lots of distractions at the moment, including holidays and the Olympics, but keep this up and people will return I am sure. I think we have to phrase the message along the lines of “we have a super team and you don’t know what your missing” rather than “come and support us - or else”. Either way, if this team keeps playing like this those that do attend are in for a real treat !

I’ll just echo the thoughts about the performance last night. Brilliant! Our pace in midfield and upfront tore them to pieces. The expected response in the second half also showed we have some grit in defence too. The clean sheet second half was as pleasing as the goals.

Without doubt one of the best performances I’ve seen in years. Closing down from midfield was outstanding and set the platform for the win.

If we can keep this group of players together, we could have a very good season

Time to be positive! UTA!

Maybe have a few less Stella’s before posting

Although the gate was 243, only 107 people paid to get in (65 Adults, 38 over 65’s, and 4 students).

Compare this to our 1st home game 2 years ago on the same date (16th August 2014), where the gate was 381 (145 Adults, 91 over 65’s, and 8 students paid).

Thatch, people do not want facts and figures they want “Cloud Cuckoo Land” where everything is “Hunky Dory” and money grows on trees. It is a simple fact, we need bigger gates and a long FA Cup run too if we are to maintain our standard of players. Last night was a brilliant display of real English football not the tippy tappy stuff the continentals love. Get it forward, get after it, win the second ball and keep the pressure on is the way to win this league, well done Carl and the players.
As for beating two well supported teams, because of their high support they will be able to strengthen their squads, we need to be able to do the same, so come on missing Wittoners, get down to home games ASAP.
WHS.

They’re not really comparable we were in a higher league, had better pre season (we beat Chester and Telford at home). We’d made some high profile signings. The season before was poor but we finished well. Now we’ve had 3 poor seasons, didn’t end well and made lower profile signings and been moved to the south.

Carl has made some shrewd signings, hopefully won’t be costing us too much (if you look at where they’ve come from). It will take time for the crowds to get back over 300 it’s a lot easier to lose fans than it is to gain them. We seem to be going in the right direction and it’s a welcome return to a winning start. We need to be positive!

I don’t want to enter into a slanging match by any means. But Thatch, if you are quoting the facts: The game you refer to was on a Saturday against a very well supported Ilkeston who always have a substantial away following. So it’s wrong to compare them.

Look at our midweek attendances on Champions League nights over the years and you will see that they are generally below par. Take into account also summer holidays. Look at attendances across the whole of non-league - it’s a general malaise - not just a problem here at WAFC

Let’s all pull together and be positive. Performances like last night’s should be shouted about from the rooftops (OK, social media!) and the attendances will rise.

UTA!

:clap :clap :clap

Back to the match… best performance in a long time. Should have been more than 3-0, also don’t think our keeper made a save. Well done Carl & co you’ve certainly got a group of lads together who aren’t afraid to put a shift in. We aren’t going to win every game but if we play with the passion we showed last night I think we are in with a shout of doing well this season. UTA

Please can you explain why only 107 people ( including myself ) paid to get in and 136 did not ?

Seaon ticket holders would have been the rest, I would imagine
