Mauler, I am always making excuses (valid ones) why I cannot make a game but you are a dyed in the wool Wittoner, you can’t just not turn up. The Club need our money and our support in these difficult times, if I can give up my Rugby I am sure you can keep supporting the club too. Umpiring my first ever game on Saturday at Winsford, I will donate some money at the beginning of next season as my penance.

More like a half-nelson in WHS case !
Far from hopping on one leg I will try to be as inobtrusive as possible, given my girth, not an easy task. All games are about the players, umpires, refs etc should be mere shadows in the background and only visible when absolutely necessary. I am as nervous as hell and desperately hoping I don’t make any mistakes. All I can say if I do is they will be honest ones, just like the mistakes I make on here.
