Witton Albion vs Macclesfield FC (PSF).

Witton begin their pre season campaign with a visit from newly-formed Macclesfield FC on Tuesday night. The Silkmen will begin life in the North West Counties League Premier Division when their new season gets underway at the end of the month and a new chapter will begin and we wish them well.

Ironically, the former Macclesfield Town club came to play what turned out to be their final game at Wincham Park but, what was to follow was such a sad day for a club with a great history.

The rise of Macclesfield FC is just beginning and they’ve had to build from scratch and some continuity is already there in Danny Whittaker who served the town so well as a player and has now taken on the mantle of their first-ever manager.

Pre season has seen The Silkmen play three games already and has so far seen two victories and a draw, beating Atherton Laburnum Rovers 5-0, New Mills 3-2 and then drawing 2-2 with Ashton United after being two goals down.

Witton are boosted by having a number of last season’s squad signed on again ahead of the new season, but have lost the services of Scott Bakkor, Josh Gregory, Steven Tames and most notably goalkeeper Chris Renshaw but we move on an build again and we can rest assured that our management team will be looking to address things as we get closer to the start of the new season.

The game will be a challenge for both teams and Witton will be looking to get some match fitness into the players, whilst Macclesfield will be looking to continue the progress they have made in such a short time.

Kick Off at Wincham Park is 7.45pm.
