Witton welcome our friends and last season’s Emirates FA Challenge Cup giantkillers Marine AFC to Wincham Park on Tuesday night in what is our penultimate pre season friendly.
The Mariners achievements and cup exploits brought them to the attention of the nation, culminating in their appearance in front of the television cameras against Premier League big boys Tottenham Hotspur at The Marine Travel Arena.
The club can be proud of the way they acquitted themselves against such illustrious opponents and they did themselves and the Northern Premier League a great deal of credit, not to mention the financial benefit that will have brought.
Pre season has seen Marine in good form having lost only two of their seven games so far and they have also been prolific in front of goal. Their last game saw them win 2-1 at Stalybridge Celtic at the weekend.
Witton will face another very tough challenge against the Mariners but getting more game time is all important for the squad as we approach the new season. The game will also hopefully get a number of players who have not featured, some minutes which will be much needed.
Kick Off at Wincham Park is 7.45pm.
