Witton Albion vs Marine

Witton look to get back to winning ways on Tuesday night when they welcome struggling Marine to Wincham Park in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture. The Crosby-based club have started the season in poor form, losing three of their first five league games and are now searching for a new manager following the resignation of Tommy Lawson at the weekend. Previous meetings between the two clubs have been interesting and eventful over the years with Marine having the upper hand during the Cheshire League days but not so much in recent times. A number of faces familiar to the Mariners are expected to be on view as there is quite a connection between the two clubs particularly on the playing side. Witton have no less than five former Marine players in the squad namely: Matty Devine, Tom Owens, Will Jones, James Foley and the most recent recruit Billy Smart. Then of course, there’s the boss himself Carl Macauley, who had a short spell in charge at College Road. Saturday’s defeat at Bamber Bridge was a setback after two wins against previously unbeaten teams but Witton will be aiming to begin another run as games come thick and fast in the next few weeks. Marine are always dangerous opponents and with the current managerial position, they will be looking to put on a performance which makes this game a very tough test for Albion. Kick off at Wincham Park is 7.45pm.

It should be a lively game with old manager and players facing their old club! Marine are always tough and it will be as hard as ever but, the lads need 3 points tonight so with a bit of luck and hard work I will go for a 2-1 win for the Albs. Team-wise Smart is due back and he might come back in for Lingouba otherwise I guess same team as saturday. UTA
