Don’t normally harp on about officials but they ruined that game tonight. Joke
Yeah they were pathetic but decent officials are rare in non league.
On the football side of things I thought we played some great stuff in the first half and we should have been out of sight by half time we just lacked the killer touch.
A plus is that down to ten men and a goal down after some controversy we kept going and got a point shows the character that this new team has and I’ll take that every time !

A long time since I have seen a match with so many “games” being played and off the ball incidents. We did seem to come out of the wrong end of quite a few decisions, especially with the goal disallowed and the sending off whilst Mossley survived unscathed from a few off the ball incidents - the number 11 especially should have been sent off before he was subbed. I think its sad that those are the headlines rather than the football itself.
There was plenty to admire. I thought we shaded the game and had some better chances, but Mossley had some quick players upfront and will cause a lot of teams problems. Their keeper also made a couple of very smart saves - not least the save from Titch which was destined to hit the back of the net before he got a hand to it.
The Mossley celebrations when they took the lead were a bit OTT, so it was really sweet to grab that late late equaliser :goal
Early days yet and the team is still settling down, but plenty to be optimistic about !
Mossley view of the game…
Mossley were denied maximum points at Witton Albion on Tuesday by an equaliser scored with practically the last kick of a feisty encounter which saw the Lilywhites opponents fail to finish with eleven men for the fourth successive game.
An end to end first half saw chances for both sides but neither keeper was overly troubled as defences held firm.
Witton’s Danny Andrews was lucky to stay on the pitch after a two footed lunge on John Bennett brought only a yellow card.
The second half saw both sides trying to force the issue but some of the home side’s late tackles coupled with some bizarre refereeing decisions left much to be desired.
Witton had midfielder Gary Roberts dismissed for a bad challenge on the ever dangerous Tom Pratt on 64 minutes.
However, the home side had the ball in the Mossley net on 75 minutes but the goal was ruled out for off-side.
The introduction of Luke Horrocks and Rhys Nevins on 77 minutes improved Mossley’s chances against the ten men. Nevins’ skill and pace setting up fellow substitute Dave Short who’s curling shot hit the Witton bar and bounced away to safety as Mossley gained the upper hand.
The Lilywhites finally took the lead with just four minutes remaining. Horrocks and Nevins again combined on the left and the latter sent Dave Short into enough space for the burly striker to rifle home an unstoppable shot from 25 yards.
More controversy followed as Mossley were denied a clear penalty when Pratt’s kicking foot was clipped as he prepared to shoot with the referee to everyones astonishment awarding Witton a free kick instead.
Time was just about up when Witton won a throw in on the left wing and a long throw into the Mossley box broke kindly for home substitute Ben Mills to score through a crowded box and salvage what had looked to be an unlikely point for the home side.
Harsh on a hard working Mossley who showed plenty of quality and were truly unlucky not to take the three points having conceded for the first time this season so very late in the game.
4 games in a row where the opposition have a player sent off ??? Says something about Mossley’s tactics maybe ???
Yes obviously lots of positives from the game. However, the lads must work on their first touch and I thought we were shot-shy, especially when on top in the first half.
Yes, the ref was awful, but players on both sides have to learn that if you dive in recklessly if forces him to make big decisions, some of which he got wrong and that then creates even more problems. If Roberts doesn’t learn to control his temper then I fear for him ( and us!). He was swearing like a trooper as he came off and blaming everyone except himself.
A pretty sour game despite some great approach play and a brave point salvaged.
First game I’ve been to at WP since the ?decision? to let them share.
Cracking game with two sides committed to attacking, Danny Andrews aside not a lot of guile to be honest but plenty of endeavour.
Referee was APPALLING for both teams, Danny should have been sent off for his challenge, not malicious but mistimed and misjudged and had it happened later in the game it would have been red, Gary Roberts sending off was the correct decision, but if it were not for some blind eyes being turned by linesmen and referees to off the ball incidents then Mossley would also have been down in personnel.
The disallowed goal again was the wrong decision, the ball went directly in, no one touched it and the keeper misjudged it.
Fantastic to get the equaliser and totally deserved point at the end especially after the way Mossley celebrated their World cup winning goal!
Congratulations to Noel and all concerned with the social club, its had a revamp and looks the part and carrying on the excellent work that Andy and Sharon Lomas did.

Agreed with most comments on the match, hard fought, terrible officials, deserved a point but no more really, but cannot agree 2 teams committed to attacking" we played with 1 up front for most of the match until the sending off forced a change and cannot for one moment understand Titchener on the left wing-I thought we had Sully back in charge  if the midfield 2 are not good enough to compete and win midfield then get better players, Cropper up front on his own is hopeless no real pace and doesnt do hold up that well, Baker has bags of energy but putting him in the middle left no room for Roberts to Play when we did get hold of possession we had no outlet, we looked better with Baker and Andrews on the wings and definitely with Titch upfront, if we do need 3 in midfield then play 3 centre backs and wing backs 3-5-2.
Overall it left me worried that we do not have enough quality in midfield and possibly upfront to challenge for the playoffs early days I know but I did not expect us to be playing 4-5-1 at home against Mossley - and with an attacking minded manager ! one plus point for me is that we do seem to have gained a pretty good keeper who really looks the part, we also seemed to do a bit more when Dawson came on giving us natural width he was free on numerous occasions but our centrebacks kept looking long with Hollywood balls I can see the need to have a look at Niall Green at full back but he didnt look that quick and got skinned for pace by the winger not sure Dawson would have and he is naturally left footed so thats a tricky one for me. on to Trafford now lets hope we can sort our shape and get some fluency to the game. Last night’s game was Anthony Gardner’s 200th competitive appearance in a Witton Albion shirt. He becomes the 42nd player to achieve that milestone.
