Witton Albion vs Mossley

He’d have reached it a lot quicker hadn’t he decided to sit out whilst we got relegated.

Finally calmed down enough and match report now available on:

Congratulations to dual registered John Main who netted for Alsager last night

I think it was Tracy who pointed it out on FB - this is the same Kevin Mattocks (referee) that infamously gave Farsley Celtic a goal AFTER he had blown for off side and before the ball went into the net.

Looks like he hasn’t improved much over the intervening years and hasn’t grown to love the Albion either !!

Yes i saw that too and after his shocker last night it does beg the question that after his nightmare match here in 2006 and the abuse he rightly recieved did he come here last night with a bias against Witton Albion and the supporters?
I know officials are supposed to be completely unbiased but hes human and he may still carry a grudge?
I just hope he never refs another Witton game in his life!

Knew at the back of mind there was history, didn’t realise it was so far back though.

April 17th 2006 to be precise and I have a note: “Only goal of the game awarded following a two minute delay as he consulted an Assistant” Played a total of 7 minutes stoppage time that game as well and we didn’t use a sub.

So 9 years on and he still officiates at this level ermm!

I also remember this incident, a joke then and a joke last night, please can we refuse to have him reffing us again.

Still trying to come up with an explanation as to why our attack minded manager decided to play one up front against a side like Mossley. To play Titch out wide on the left was criminal, Cropper has a big heart and puts in a full shift but he doesn’t have the pace to play the sole striker role. Green for me is not as good as Dawson at left back. There was no balance with the side and I think it showed in the players faces. Early days but for me the manager should have seen it wasn’t working and changed it instead of stumbling along like a mis-firing car. I am sure it won’t happen again. UTA

Congrats to Gards on 200 games, and he would have done it sooner if we had a decent manager to manage him ! all credit to him he hasn’t put a foot wrong since the change of manager.

Amazingly I didn’t realise we’d been down to ten men until I got home and WHEELS had posted it! I was watching the Mossley player chasing after ours and raising his hands to his face and shoving him over! The ref didn’t see it but the liner did and they bottled it surely. The Mossley management knew it and substituted him.

I may be wrong but their players seemed to have a “go down stay down and get a free kick” ethos, Danny definitely COULD have been sent off mind a very rash challenge caused by a short pass/poor touch. As has been said why we were set up by a manager well known for his attacking bent as we were with Titch anonymous out on the wing and Lee Cropper toiling alone in the middle is a mystery at home against Mossley, must be some reason I suppose. We lost the ball too easily and didn’t keep it we’ll enough when we had it! The officiating was awful (for both teams).

I must say when we equalised at the end it did feel more like a victory as we’d lost the game then really!

Still baffles me he’s anywhere near the club. :woohoo:

Because he’s our best player by a country mile. Time to move on and stop dragging up the past over and over again.

Got to disagree with that, the last couple of seasons Danny has been our best player.

Nope, that’s Danny Andrews. To be fair, I’m pretty sure this is the first time anyone has mentioned it so far this season.

I was always lead to believe that forums were all about personal opinions. It is my opinion that Gards is currently our best performer who gives his absolute all and more besides in every performance. I do not know the facts about what went on at the end of last season but what I do know is that we need to keep hold of our best players. For the good of the club let the past stay in the past and just move on.

You are correct that the forum is a place for opinions. In my opinion Danny Andrews has been our best performer. It is also my opinion that people going on about the past regarding Gards isn’t helping matters
