Witton’s Buildbase FA Challenge Trophy campaign continues on Tuesday night when they welcome fellow Northern Premier League and Cheshire neighbours Nantwich Town in the Second Round.
Saturday’s First Round saw Albion safely overcome Bamber Bridge in a tie postponed from its original scheduled date a week ago making this “derby” meeting possible.
The Dabbers had already secured their place in the Second Round by beating Workington 3-1 in their tie last Tuesday night. The tie brings a number of familiar faces back to Wincham Park with Greg Hall, Matty Devine, Ben Harrison, Prince Haywood, Michael Koral & Connor Heath now plying their trade in South Cheshire.
Derby games are always eagerly awaited and both teams will be looking to progress further in the competition and another home tie awaits should Albion prevail.
Despite the enforced break in the season, Witton are currently on a winning sequence of five games in all competitions and will be hoping that run continues but Nantwich will provide a difficult challenge as always.
The return of striker Rob Hopley to competitive football on Saturday following a long lay off will have certainly been a boost for the club and gives the management team another option at the attacking end of the pitch.
Kick Off at Wincham Park is 7.45pm.
