Witton Albion vs Nantwich Town.

Derby day returns to Wincham Park on Bank Holiday Monday when Witton welcome lleaders Nantwich Town in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture. The Dabbers finished last season in fifteenth place in the table having lost 21 out of their 46 league fixtures but have been this campaign in fine form. The two sides met three times last season twice in the league with Nantwich coming out on top at Weaver Stadium whilst Albion won convincingly in the return fixture at Wincham Park. The third meeting saw Witton put Nantwich out of the Integro League Challenge Cup before eventually going out to Mickleover Sports on penalties. The Dabbers have added to their squad in pre season and started well and are unbeaten in their opening three games, the last of which saw them put five past bottom club Lancaster City at the weekend including a hat trick from former Crewe Alexandra youth Callum Saunders on his debut. Their first three games have all been at home, following the switching of the Buxton game due to the Derbyshire club’s new 3G pitch not being ready for use. Witton go into the game off the back of an excellent victory at previously unbeaten Whitby Town at the weekend, and performances so far this season have been good so they will relish the challenge that The Dabbers will pose. A decent crowd is hoped for and a tough game is expected for both teams as the campaign continues. Kick off at Wincham Park is 3pm.

Witton Albion Football Club are extremely grateful and delighted to welcome this afternoon’s Matchball Sponsor - Witton Supporter John England. We thank John for his generosity and hope that he has an enjoyable afternoon with us.

Well done John, I hope you enjoy the day!

An interesting tie today will be a good measure of where we are I think, team wise I would definitely go 5-3-2 and maybe try something different up front maybe Tom Owen behind Rob as we did in preseason a couple of times, but missing Billy Smart due to suspension we may not do that ! so I guess Carl will go with the same side/shape that won at Whitby and that team will battle for sure but will it score enough goals ? lets hope so UTA
