Witton Albion vs Ossett Albion (FAT. Prelim).

Not heard anything.

One person who was there helping Paul Ogden was, Carl “Frosty the Goalman.”

It’s eerily quiet on here this weekend almost like the calm before the storm…I do hope not and we get the right man this time. A man who is proud and passionate about the club we all love and more importantly a man who knows what he’s doing.

Brendan Rodgers is available???

I am not sure we have £300 MILLION to let Rogers waste ! only one obvious candidate for Me has all the qualities you said but is He available ? UTA

We were lucky to have a team out there yesterday by some accounts so a great deal of thanks to all the players and to Oggy and Terry. We started off brilliantly and Chris Baker’s goal was a brilliant strike from an almost impossible angle, it would have graced match of the day! we faded and Osset got back in and really came good in the second half and really could have won, our keeper was superb AGAIN he really can’t be faulted at all! I was hoping for another Jay Matthews wonder goal when he came on but he was deployed in a deeper position. Shame about a replay after going two up so early in the game!

To be honest I think a lot of people have lost interest, we know Harris can’t pick a decent manager his track record speaks for itself, People criticise other clubs for having one man running other clubs but that’s the case here, the board members only last as long as he wants them, Until a new board come in I don’t think many people care who the new manager is.

Sorry T of F I strongly disagree with your suggestion of a new board. I agree that Mark has made some very poor managerial appointments and desperately needs to get the next one right but it is a thankless task taking the reigns of a club struggling to make ends meet on a weekly basis. The board have dipped in to their own pockets on numerous occasions to ensure the continuity of this football club. I don’t see anyone stepping forward to take up the reigns nor do I think anybody will. Mark and the team will get it right this time and lead Witton in to the play offs. Have faith UTA

And those in charge at Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea (and the five championship clubs who’ve sacked managers today) can THEY pick 'em?? To be honest the whole of football is a flippin disgrace…those like our tenants who cheat the rest of the football family with their disregard for any sense of financial proprierty just seem to be allowed to sail on regardless. To be fair I’m sick of the lot of it.

I tend to sit in the Johno camp, yes the board have made mistakes but without pots of money many do, but I do strongly feel they make decisions in the best interest of the club at the time - and as Johno says who else is there- so the next managerial appointment is very important because we are certainly on a DOWN SLOPE and we need to climb out pretty quickly and get the whole fanbase back in tow and pulling together ! We do have a POTENTIALLY better future as the Roberts housing development is taking shape and we are due a decent financial boost from this which will ease our position immensely - We need to use this boost wisely and shut up the doom mongers in the town and bounce back, lets get our new manager in fairly quickly, lets get behind the club and put the green and white s***e (both teams ) back in its place - well below us. UTA

Well, Tongue_of_F you need to have a head wobble!

I’m sure our Board would welcome you’re membership (and money), and not least your thoughtful and informed input!

Get in the real world. Support the Chairman, Board, Volunteers and team and help to get us back to where we belong rather than put drivel on a public forum … or perhaps you want to start a protest club???

I don’t agree with everything that he has said by any means, but if the wrong decisions carry on being made what hope has the club got to get back where it belongs, no matter how much great work the board/volunteers do.

Wow what a stupid thing to put - Mark Harris has the clubs best interest at heart and i think no matter who interviewed for the last position I think everyone would have chosen Dundas, with his past record at Norton and him promising goals it would have been hard not to pick him.

As for his other manager selections in the past … Sheehan everyone thought was the best man for the job unfortunately it didn’t work out but I bet he would have been criticised for not giving Sheehan a chance if he went else where … Sully again nice bloke and its hard to say he didn’t pick the right man without seeing the other options he had to pick from.

But no one can control the future you can only act on instinct at the time and when Dundas was appointed everyone was excited for what he could offer, but know everyone thinks it was a crap decision which yeah it was he wasn’t the right man for the job but no one could have seen that.

Lets just hope the next guy that gets his chance takes it. But if you know better ToF I’m sure Harris would love to hear how you would select a manager

This is also the same board that appointed and backed Brian Pritchard. Typically most people are against 1st time managers with an assistant who had never managed either - there is rarely praise for this appointment.

Accepted recent appointments have been disappointing results wise, I will say it again though there isn’t a long que of managers beating on the door sadly.

dundas was surely only appointed as manager because of the norton fa cup run.last season they finished half way in the evo south league and that division is nowhere near as good as the northern section.felt a bit sorry for dundas cos it was the club that hyped him up as a good manager not scott himself.he did say in his first interview that there would be plenty of goals but thought he meant at the right end and not past our keeper(who i think is a brilliant keeper).

Recruiting people is one of the most difficult tasks facing any business - hence the lengthy selection processes that have been adopted in recent years to try and appoint the best people. There are numerous instances in high profile companies (and football clubs) where this process still fails.

Some of the comments on this forum are particularly harsh in respect of both the board and the managers they have appointed. There are sometimes fine lines between success and failure. I suspect, some of the comments here have been made by supporters who have never been in the position of having to make such a decision and then have it publicly scrutinised.

Can we please be a bit more forgiving and supportive of a Board, who have some really professional members, and who we know are working in the best interests of everyone within the football club. Our disappointment is felt just as keenly by them - if not more so , given their time, efforts and financial contributions.

Some people fail to realise that no one sets out to make a bad decision or poor choice.
This applies to the board at the outset or subsequently the actions of the managers.
Many people can interview well and never live up to their perceived promise aside from the massive number of variables involved in recruiting and maintaining a squad of players.
Everyone has 20:20 hindsight.

Hmmm, well yes and no…

Pritch applied for the job but was turned down for Paul Ogden, which obviously didn’t end well.

Pritch again applied for the job, but was turned down and offered the role on a ‘joint’ basis with Dave Macpherson, with it being suggested that Macca was the senior partner.

When Macca then walked out on us Pritch held the fort and was eventually given the job rather than the club going through another recruitment process.

So yes, well done to the board for letting Pritch have the job he clearly wanted, but two poor decisions were made in twice turning him down for people who didn’t last much longer than Deeley, Sheenz, Sully or Dundas did.

So we have a reoccurring theme of managers not seeing out a full season. And that has massive knock-on-effects in regards to stability - leaving us in our current position where we are massively underacheiving.

Whilst nobody intentionally makes bad decisions, a centre-forward also doesn’t intentially miss chances. How long would you perservere with a mis-firing striker?

Urmmm about 2 years now

i love to see brian back and i’d even wear one of those stupid warrington bob hats if it made him happy

I have everything crossed for Brian to come back, in my opinion and in the current circumstances he is the only man for the job, provided he wants it and I have a sneaky feeling he does.
