Witton complete their pre season preparations on Saturday when they welcome Prescot Cables to Wincham Park, a game that was originally scheduled to be played at Prescot.
Cables pre season so far has mirrored Witton’s in some ways with some decent performances and results, but then they’ve also suffered some heavy defeats, the last being a 3-0 loss to Championship new-boys Blackpool.
Results are secondary during this period but it’s always nice to be able to perform well, at the same time as getting valuable playing time and assessing players fitness as the new season approaches.
Witton will face another very tough challenge against Cables who could very well feature a familiar face in striker Steven Tames in their side, following his return to one of his former clubs so he will need watching carefully.
Hopefully Albion will be able to call on members of the squad who haven’t featured much but the management team will be looking at all options available to them in readiness for the big kick off in a week’s time.
Please note: Kick Off at Wincham Park is 2pm.
