Thank you also to Tracey Collins & Victoria Humphreys for their efforts as always.
What to make of today’s game?
Well it did seem like a point gained, rather than two points dropped.
Having said that, Witton do need to start stringing some wins together, if they are to improve their current second bottom league position.
And to be fair to Scarborough, they started off by far the brighter of the two teams, and might have been some two or three goals up by the time that Callum Saunders got the 16th minute opener for Witton.
Gradually, however, the visitors got themselves back into the game, and there seemed to be a certain inevitability when they first equalised on 34 minutes and then edged in front on the hour mark.
What was slightly surprising, however, was that the Seadogs then failed to take full advantage of the blustery end-to-end wind in the second half.
And to Witton’s credit, just like in the 0-1 home reverse vs Matlock a fortnight ago, the Albion didn’t give up, and Callum Saunders’ second today in the 85th minute, was no less than was deserved.
But a return to winning ways, and sooner rather than later, is now essential.
Scarborough 4th in the league at start of play so I would expect Scarborough to start the brighter. I thought Witton grew into the game and especially 2nd half, when we had to keep the ball on the floor due to the wind we played some good football at times.
A soft second goal to concede, but the lads didn’t let their heads drop and the crowd got behind them and we deserved a point. The last 4 games I have been saying our football deserved more than we have got and today was proof we aren’t a bad side.
Well done players management and fans.
A good and well deserved point, lots of effort in very difficult wind that spoiled it as a game of quality football but it was entertaining none the less. We are still making too many mistakes and losing possession by sloppy play but, at least we saw the resilliance of Carl’s team and fought back well with Foley excellent and my MOM Rob Hopley brilliant.
The only downside for me was playing 4 5 1 at home, I don’t want to see my team play that way and then 11 men back for corners! It would have been nice to see our new striker Dowling up front with Saunders not on the wing. Maybe against lesser opponents we might see that! All that said a good point earned. UTA
