Out of the bottom four again now and Nantwich have dropped into the danger zone. Crucial game on Boxing Day now!

Well we seem to have changed from trying to play like Barcelona with tippy tappy football to playing like the old Wimbledon, bash it and wack it. It worked really well so no complaints. And did my eyes deceive me or were we playing 3-5-2?
WHS.

The line up that started the game, we could very well have been using that formation. Whatever it was it did the trick!

To be honest, our passing in the first half was generally woeful, but I couldn’t fault the effort, fitness and in particular the tackling. Yes, the lost art survives! Yet again we improved in the 2nd half and ended up comfortable and running the game. By the way, Stamford are still on the pitch trying to score into an empty goal, but no luck…

Jamie Rainford - I judged him early on to be one of those bickering moaners, but I was wrong. He has a real striker’s instinct of where to be and his 2nd was sheer class. I have to say that Henders worked his butt off, as indeed did everyone. From being lucky to be ahead early on, we got better and better. Well done boys!

And let’s give credit to an excellent ref today.

We were 5 at the back and have been for about 6 games more or less, today we were great as a team, great work rate from everyone and a well deserved win, strong in all aspects of play a bit scruffy at times but points are important and moving up the tablenicely, we seem to have a shape and a will to win that has even missing well played lads UTA

A great result without playing that well. No player could be faulted at all for the effort and commitment they put in, Danny Andrews and Jamie Henders (I’d not seen him play before and he played really well) were excellent. Defensively they all did well to restrict Stamford to very few clear cut chances despite the possession they had, I was delighted with Jamie Rainford when he came to replace Titch he had the right attitude and fully deserved his two goals for his positioning and running!

Well done to one and all today and COME ON THE ALBIOOOOOON!

I think they call it it grit. everyone got stuck in today and showed the passion that is needed to get out the bottom half of the table. And all three goals were scored without Titch on the pitch so hopefully take some pressure of him. Rainford excellent today.two goals well deserved . don’t care what formation we play,
if we put that effort and commitment in the next few matches then the league table will look a lot better for us going into the new year. well played lads :clap

I think we were playing 3-5-2, that was why we were getting caught out a bit on the flanks, particularly in the first-half but it meant we flooded the mid field which we dominated totally in the second half so happy with the system.

Solid, gritty performance everyone gave 100% well done all. To be honest I don’t think Stamford would score if they were still playing now but you can only beat what’s in front of you as they say.

CJ and WHS - with two over lappping full backs for much of the game is 3-5-2 not the same formation as 5-3-2??? I’m confused but whatever it was it worked!

Well it depends, if you are playing most of the time with just 3 at the back, not 4 as we were I would say it was 3-5-2. But to be honest with the effort put in I think these lads would have won playing any system.
