Witton climb to sixth in the table level on points with Shaw Lane AFC and the unbeaten run stretches to nine games.
A feisty game and a well earned 3 points thanks to a late goal from Tom Owens that was the least we deserved. Stourbridge defended as though their lives depended on it and took yellow cards when they needed to to stop us making headway, but eventually we found a way through. That 3 points moves up to 6th, same points as Shaw Lane on 5th (although we have played more games). If anyone thought we weren’t in the mix for the playoffs, well think again. We are now !! Could be a seat of the pants job for the last 11 games, but with this team you wouldn’t bet against us. Of the teams above us we play Ashton on Sat and Farsley to come home and away. Lets enjoy it !!
Pinched this of the Alty forum, but when you look at who has to play who - we are in with a real chance of the play offs (and I wouldn’t bet against Ashton winning the league, Saturday’s result withstanding of course!! ) …

I thought we did really well to win that against a robust Stourbridge side who defended well. It was a ground out win without playing, or being allowed to play, really well. We could just make the playoffs if we can keep this up! COME ON THE ALBIOOOON!
In many ways better than saturdays win because We had to dig deep against a team of cloggers, who were decent in midfied and defence but nothing up top and it showed as they tried to nullify us, with no Dale we looked a bit out of sorts, I would have tried prince on the right wing Foley in the middle with Owens and Mckenna on the left it might have had more flow and balance to it. But a win is a win so well done to Carl and all the team AGAIN - UTA
Well done for a gritty performance against a rather crude team, they stopped any flowing football from us with continual fouls. Their nos 2 & 4 were like octopuses with their pushing and pulling. Keep playing like this and we could make the play offs. The players just keep on going and never give up. UTA
