Witton Albion vs Willenhall

The Albs are 4 nil up at half time I believe!

Maylett with 2 and Moseley with 1 in the first 10 mins and Hall added 1 later in the half. Maylett has also missed a penalty.

Any further score? GREAT STUFF Albion!

Somebody? Put me out of my misery - what’s the score?

Full time from WP, 5-1 to the Albion!

YESSSS! Come on Albion! Is it too early to start singing “Going up, going up, going up”?

The answer to that one is a definite yes!

A bit ofluck in front of goal for a change and a poor keeper for them, but to be fair we played some great football in the first half and the score could have easily have been 8.

Second half we took our foot of the gas, made some substitutions and generally played out the remainder of the game without being as forceful as we had first half.

Up to 4th in the league! 2 points gained on Leek who drew today.

This really is a shite league we have ended up in and we need to get out of it at the first attempt - not sure if we were good today or Willenhall ( especially the 1st half keeper ) were bad. If we can get 2 good results next week then maybe we can start to believe.

MoM Pritch followed closely by Ruddy.

Oh ye of little faith!! I said we would win this league by a country mile and I stand by that assertion. We have too many good players for any other team to match us, particularly up front. Foster and Moseley would walk into any team in this league.
WHS.

Where do the media get their information from?

Every website I’ve read since yesterday’s game says that Brad Maylett scored a hat trick and one also stated that it was Steve Hall’s first goal of the season.

Very enjoyable game yesterday, took the early chances and established a good lead early on, even though their keeper was bad nothing should be taken away from our players getting in there and putting the ball in the back of the net.

Still have lots of improving to do if we are to be a top 5 team, as although the standard in this league is lower than last season, teams wont roll over and let us beat them. We need to approach every game with fight and get in their early like we did yesterday.

Very impressed with Clegg so far between the sticks, Ruddy played better at center half imo…i don’t think anyone had a bad game.

I think Tuesday at Sheffield will be more of a challenge a point would be ok a win would be fantastic.

Sorry to be a pain but isn’t about time Lloyd went Come_on_the albs ???

Believe me i have tried to get rid of it…

Willenhall are in administration, and according to thier fans and officials fielded a makeshift team mostly playing out of position with youth teamers etc. Thier young keeper was “given a try” and had a total nightmare after an early mistake, a shame really! Pritch was an inspiration, again!, and held it together as usual! Very odd Ruddinho playing in central defence I thought he was a poaching striker!? He just didn’t talk/shout enough, Pritch did it all AGAIN! My earlier statements that we could “P*ss this southern jessies league” may have been misplaced I think, as “there’s no easy games, not at this level!” Still, COME ON ALBIOOOOOOON!!!

We had a centre forward in defence, a winger at left back a left sided midfielder playing his first game in weeks and a centre forward playing 75% fit so a bit of a makeshift side ourselves, their keeper had also been “given a try” in 5 previous games. A great first half performance well done to the lads, Tandy looks a good signing when he is fully match fit he will be a handful. Another excellent signing made on Saturday who should be available for Tuesday night, Will annoounce when I get the ok that his registration is confirmed.

Stephen Hall 36

‘Wincham Woes’ - Matthew Bagnall

The excessive journey to Northwich couped for no avail on Saturday afternoon, as Shaun Cunnington’s Lockmen side were wiped away by Promotion candidates; Witton Albion on their return to League action. Following a heartening performance on Tuesday evening, The Reds were to percieve no further success, and after a mere six minutes recorded on the clock, Finley’s men took the initiative, Attacking Flanker; Bradley Maylett pouncing on to a loose ball, grabbing the first of his illustified hatrick. The restart saw a valiant march from the Hosts, as an attacking surge bought further success, with Michael Moseley contributing to the scoring-spree, soon to be followed by Maylett’s second of the afternoon. With the Interval approaching, Albion saw Cunnington’s men to their fate, as Defensive full-back Stephen Hall notched his first of the season from close-range. Defiant pressure from The Lockmen came to nothing of tall order in the second-half, and as the game drew to a conclusion, Maylett completed a comprehensive hatrick on 72 minutes, sparking ecstatic celebrations at Wincham Park for the hosts. Left-Flanker; Jamall Pinnock did contrive a consolation effort for Town, a neat passing order representing respectivity for the travelling spectators.

Official Match Brief

Willenhall Town suffered a heavy defeat at one of the favourites for promotion on Saturday, as Witton Albion wrapped up the game quickly.
The home side started scoring after 6 minutes. After winning the ball in midfield, a quick attack saw Steve Foster and Brad Maylett execute a quick one-two which split the Willenhall defence, allowing Maylett to cooly slot home from inside the area.
They doubled the lead a minute later. A deft chip into the area from Steve Hall saw the ball bounce through to Mike Moseley, who lobbed the ball over the oncoming Amritjoyt Kler to make it 2-0.
Willenhall almost halved the deficit on 8 minutes. Jamall Pinnock fed the ball left to Tangeni Nghishidimbwa, whose cross was met with a header by Terrence Morton, which was deflected out for a corner.
But on 11 minutes Willenhall went 3-0 down. Kler committed himself to sprinting out of his area to try and cut out a long ball forward. Unfortunately he slipped over and gifted Maylett a shot at an open goal, which he did not waste.
It could have gotten worse for Willenhall on 16 minutes when, after a Shaun Griffiths challenge, the referee awarded Witton a penalty despite there being no appeal from any of the Witton players. Maylett stepped up to take it but hit the ball wide of the target.
On 18 minutes Brian Pritchard headed just over following a corner, and on the half hour mark, Kler took two attempts to gather up a loose ball following a cross from Maylett.
Witton made it 4-0 after 36 minutes. A ball from 30 yards out was zipped into the area, and with Kler opting to stay on his line Hall headed into the net from close range.
Witton almost added another when Dylan Adams tried an audacious 40 yard shot which bounced awkwardly in front of the Willenhall keeper. Kler parried the ball only as far as Foster, whose shot hit the post before being cleared by Griffiths.

Half time: Witton 4 Willenhall 0

Willenhall started the second half brightly, and Rory Curtis had two efforts which went narrowly wide.
After Foster had headed an effort just over, Witton went 5-0 ahead after 72 minutes. A skilful back heel by Steve Brodie set Foster clear down the right hand side. His cross bounced perfectly for Maylett to shoot past replacement keeper Steve Jackson.
Willenhall did pull a consolation goal back on 76 minutes. The ball was cleared out of the Witton half to Gavin Saunders, his 30 yard shot hit the bar and fell straight to Pinnock, who tapped in from 2 yards.

Witton line-up: Clegg, Adams, L. Neville, Pritchard, Rudd, Brodie (Hadzik), Maylett, Hall (D. Neville), Foster, Moseley, Tandy (Heller).

Willenhall line-up: Kler (Jackson), Roofe, Tasker (Brown), Perry, Griffiths, Eagles, Morton, Saunders, Nghishidimbwa (Boswell), Curtis, Pinnock.

Attendance: 190

excessive journey, willenhall to witton???.

all in all, a reasonable report. and their fans where ok,

for brummies.

Didnt see all the game, yes there goalie was poor, but we had loads of possession took our chances and dominated, looked more balanced than of late , like rudd at centre half ( but not up front ) I think we will be in the top 3 come the end of the season, we could be top if we sign a couple of more quality players, have a bit of good luck and keep relatively injury free, dont really fear anyone in this league!

but only 190 there to see it. Thats a shame.
