Witton’s Youth team look to make it three league wins in a row when they welcome winless Ashton Town in a North West Youth Alliance fixture on Sunday afternoon. Buoyed by their first away win of the season at Crewe FC, they then followed it up by thrashing AFC Darwen 4-1 . Last weekend 's fixture at Daisy Hill was postponed due to the weather so the team have been inactive for a fortnight but, they will be looking to continue their recent good form. Ashton Town will pose a different set of problems for the Albion youngsters as they attempt to gain their first point of the season in what is their eleventh league game of the season. Will will need to be fully focussed on the job in front of them as in the past, we have seen lower teams raise their game against higher placed opponents. Kick off at Congleton High School is 2pm.

Directions: From A556. Turn right onto King St/A530. Continue to follow A530 for 0.3 miles. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on A530 for 0.3 miles. Witton Albion Youth 6 Ashton Town AFC Youth 0.

Witton Albion Youth Team captained by Luke Walton returning from illness made it three successive wins in the North West Youth Alliance with a comprehensive 6-0 demolition of Ashton Town on Sunday afternoon.

The half time interval score of 1-0 did not reflect Witton’s dominance as lack of composure and poor decision making in the final third had let the visitors off the hook.

Witton took the lead as James Rogers raced onto a Luke Draysey through ball to head past the onrushing Ashton keeper and win the foot race to the loose ball to finish at close range on 28 minutes.

The second half was only 2 minutes old when Draysey played a first time angled cross to find Tom Collin’s perfectly timed run who volleyed in with a one touch finish. That was to be the first of 4 goals for the Witton forward.

Five minutes later Draysey himself volleyed home excellently into the left hand bottom corner from the edge of the box to make it 3-0 and then the hosts were able to relax.

The young Albion played superbly in the remaining half hour with Collins taking the limelight to score 3 quick-fire goals. 2 were forced home from close range but the pick of the bunch being a back post header after excellent work down the right hand side from Dwyer and Brookfield.

The only blight on the afternoon was a knee injury to left back Sam Cryer.

MOM Tom Edwards. Harsh on Collins but his role as Defensive Centre Midfield allowed the team to function well as a whole.
