Witton Albion Youth vs Atherton Town AFC (NWYA Open Cup 2).

Witton’s Youth team are in cup action on Sunday afternoon, when they welcome Atherton Town AFC in the Second Round of the North West Youth Alliance Open Cup. The tie was originally scheduled to be played at the end of November last year but was postponed due to the weather. Atherton are currently mid-table in the Second Division but cup football is totally different so anything can happen on the day. Should the tie be drawn after normal time, extra time will be played and if the scores are still level, a penalty shoot-out will decide who progresses to the next stage. The game is being played at Moss Farm with a 1.30pm kick off.

Witton’s Youth team finally progressed through to the third round of the NWYA Cup on Sunday afternoon, comfortably overcoming their lower ranked opponents in their delayed fixture. The tie was originally scheduled for the end of November but was postponed due to the weather.

A brace from Robbie Hatton and further goals from George Studzinski & Ellis Carter, saw Witton safely through against the Second Division side.
