Witton Res v Linotype/Cheadle HN

MID-CHESHIRE LEAGUE DIV 1 Saturday 25th February
WITTON ALBION RESERVES V LINOTYPE/CHEADLE HN
Final Score 3-1

Witton were without 5 regular players today, as 3 were injured during a friendly match last Wednesday at Nantwich, and Andy Parkinson called up for the 1st team and captain Simon Hughes away on holiday.
They took full advantage of league leaders Middlewich being involved in a cup competition to close the gap to 4 points with a great 3-1 home win today
The team took a while to settle down to their usual style of passing football and missed several chances early on.
A good move of passing football on 30 mins, found Andy Hurst who made a great run at the Linotype defence and played a lovely ball across goal for Danny Jarrett to score. Just a minute later Andy Hurst again broke through to beat the offside trap and slot the ball home to make it 2-0
The second half started off as the first half finished and Leon Williams scored on 47 Mins. Linotype/Cheadle HN pulled a goal back on 57 Mins after breaking through the usually solid witton defence to score.
The game then went pretty quite with a few chances at either end the best chance coming on 86 mins when Andy Hurst again broke through and saw his shot hit the inside of the post and roll along the goal line and away,
Witton also cleared one off their line after some late pressure from the opposition.
It was a clean game with hardly a bad tackle in it, but the referee wasn?t one the best I have seen this season
The reserves are home again on Tuesday evening with a 7-45pm kick off against Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds, who are lying 4th in the league.
Another win will put us only 1 point behind the league leaders Middlewich.

Team: Team: Brett Walker, Matt Murray, Gary Furnival(Neil Murray 63 mins), Craig Ward(Capt), Chris Jump, Ryan Barhill(Mike Cartner 70 mins), Danny McNamara, Will Hurley, Danny Jarrett(Darrell Avery 78 mins), Leon Williams, Andy Hurst

See you all Tuesday 7-45pm
