Witton v Barrow

I’m really not sure what game some of you lot were watching yesterday. You are rightly proud of your lads, but to suggest you were the better side up until the sending off? Give over.

The game didn’t turn on the sending off, we would have gone on and won anyway even from 1-0 down. We were much more comfortable in possession and we always had that last 20-30 mins in us, regardless of how many players you had on the pitch.

As for the sending off, it couldn’t have been much more blatant. The lad kicked out after the tackle right in front of the referee, who had no option. Maybe it’s the player in question you should be laying any blame on rather than the referee? Stupid thing to do in the biggest game of his career.

Some very bitter Wittoners floating about after the game. Best comment was from some bloke who said “you lot are supposed to be full-time professionals”, erm we are, and thats why we we won 4-1!

Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season. You’ve had your day in the sun in the cup, hopefully you can continue your good league form and get up to some sort of decent level.

Well it is something that we will never know will we, if we could have held out with all 11 men present. Perhaps you are right with the sending off Barrovian but your player was lucky to be on the pitch with the tackle on Ben. It is really annoying that the score was 4-1 and is not a true reflection of the game! the lancaster score of 4 0 also gave the wrong impression of the game. I hope promotion doesn’t go down to goal difference (think Skem only didn’t go up automatically by 2 goals last season!!!.

Very professional performance by Witton, spoilt only by the sending-off offence.

Of course you would expect Barrow to be ‘the better side’ based on their status in the league pyramid and the £££££££ the players are paid but any Barrovian who didn’t feel a tad uncomfortable when we scored are probably due a visit to Specsavers to sort out their one-eyedness.

So, on to the bread & butter on Tuesday and I’m sure the Witton players will be as committed again. Very proud Wittoner yesterday.

I won’t criticise the referee suffice to say he’ll probably have to ref Barrow again this season…

Oh, and Mr Barrovian, of course we’re bitter - it comes with being a football fan. You would have been very bitter had the result not gone in your favour. You must be a very clever person to be able to foresee that Barrow would have won even if we had not had the player sent-off. You will probably be able to see what the lottery numbers are before they’re drawn!! Go on, tell me, who will you draw in the next round!! I’ll be mightily impressed if you get it right. I’ll go for Brighton away.

There must be some reason you live in the biggest cul-de-sac in Britain. Even Sat-Nav says ‘don’t bother’.

There isn’t an emoticon for “Standing Ovation”, so i’ll go with…

Barrow draw Rotherham in the 1st Round at home. Good luck to them. I spent a bit of time talking to Dave Bayliss recently and no matter what happened yesterday he’s still a nice bloke and deserves to do well.

Still 4 cups and a league title to play for!!

I thought we were super for an hour and despite what Barrovian may say that sending off changed the game - even Barrow’s manager admitted that they got lucky but made the most of it (NLP). Having just won 4-1 you can gloat, but fans i spoke to before and after the game admitted that it was really squeaky bum time for Barrow fans after 60 mins.

We played excellent football - not as composed as Barrow - but that’s what you would expect. Titch and Ben shone out as equal to anything else on the pitch and that’s not gone unnoticed by Barrow fans (see their forum). But to Barrow I would say if you hope to sign these guys - join the queue. Bigger and better teams than Barrow await.

Great day, thoroughly enjoyed it, pity about the ref (cooke should have gone first for the tackle on Ben) and result but no doubt we are building something special.

Hopefully not this season!

hope barrovian saw what your manager had to say in the nlp, sort of contradicts what you have to say. anyway best of luck against rotherham.

Every Wittoner, player or fan, should be proud of this performance and we know we can move forward on all other footballing fronts.
