Witton v Barrow

Referee has ruined the game, Witton 1-0 up through a cracker from Titch then the ref sends off josh Hancock for a nothing challenge now 1-1

Attendance is 860 by the way

never seen a game turn so much on a very bad ref decision, witton had rode the strong start of barrow and were growing into the game, started the second half really well deserved the lead with an absolutely superb goal by titch breaking down the left and finishing with an unstoppable shot from a difficult angle and were in control, then hancock and barrow a player slid in and went for a 50-50 ball and i thought the barrow player had studs up and was a bit late, result a red card for hancock ? tell me i missed something because it was unbelievable, the game changed on that and the ref continued to give everything to barrow who now gained control, on the hour barrow equalise and then grabbed 3 later goals to win 4-1 never was as scoreline more flattering or a referee so bad as today.

PROUD of Witton today gave it everything and did not get what they deserved out of the match :frowning:

Very very proud as the lads gave it everything today. If we had 11 men for 90 mins it could have been so very different.
Titchs goal was absolutely class, what a finish, what a player.
Mom for me ben Harrison.
Proud to be wittoner, well done everyone involved for getting as far as we did.

Agree CJ ! The tackle was no worse than the one by Barrow’s No9 in the first half and he only got a yellow. Deserved lead through a cracking goal with Barrow not threatening up to the incident which completely changed the game. Barrow took the opportunity well but the scoreline did not reflect the game at all.

Hancock did kick out. To be fair you do that and you give the ref no choice, however the ref and the linesmen were awful. Bad decisions, one of their goals can be accredited to the linesman giving Titch offside when he was nowhere near (they ran up the pitch and put it in), and the 4th to the ref who was not paying attention to the subs that were trying to come on and had four clear chances to hold the game up to allow the changes. Even the Barrow manager was going mad.

We can all say that we would have won it etc but none of us knows how the game would have panned out. What can be said is that Witton were the better team up until the sending off. Barrow were running out of steam and starting to get frustrated with the work rate of every single Albion player. We should have won.

Pritch, Mike, Nige and Dave had the tactics spot on today. Just go’s to show doing your homework on a team pays off as we matched them for 65 minutes. There may have been 3 leagues between us but it didn’t look like it today.

Can I single out Ben Harrison though, in a team of heroes Ben was outstanding today. For a 21 year old he is a cracking player. I just hope we can hold onto him.

Well done to everyone today and well done to the Albion fans who made loads of noise. Where are you every week?? And shame on those who left on 85 minutes, not staying around to show their appreciation to the lads who have taken the club on an amazing journey in the past 13 games!!!

I sort of agree with rabbits opinion. Josh did seem to kick out but it was only to get the player off him. he’s gutted about it. Looking at it positively, we were just beginning to get the upper hand in the game and I think if we would have kept 11 players on the pitch we might have gone on to win 2 0, but it wasn’t 2B. The test will be Skem on Tuesday evening! SBL

Just bto say I was proud to call myself a Wittoner today, thank you Pritch and all the people involved. We CAN win the FA Trophy with performances like this!!
WHS.

I would just add pritch and mose did not look happy with the ref at the end ! so they also must have felt the ref was unfair and ruined the match, and yes Ben was MOM despite a great performance from Titch, if we do nothing else with some of the FA cup money i would get a few of the players on contracts, it would be an investment imo.

Proud of the effort today…it sounds like we were in control until the red card. Barrow knows they were lucky.

So so proud today we contained Barrow’s considerable threat so well in the first half (especially the big strapping number 9, who thought he would bully us out of it but failed!). We started the second half very well and everything about the goal was class, then the sending off! I saw it clearly and thought he was in real trouble strait away, maybe harsh and influenced by Barrow players reaction, but it was no suprise when the ref showed red! The game changed completely from then, I thought we’d still be ok, defend the lead and just leave Titch up on his own, but we were turned over…so sad as we didn’t deserve that. Every single player man of all four F.A cup matches, well done lads!!

I am quite sure barrow fans knew they were second best until the sending off, by the way nice people the Barrow fans, good fans as well to bring 350 to Witton maybe, see them again as we climb the non league ladder by the way did I say the ref was hopeless today-spoiled a good game of football, no one apart from the ref expected a red card from the incident he over reacted and reacted too quickly imo and therefore got it wrong, it was probably 2 yellow cards

I always feel that in FA Cup ties the Ref tends to favour the senior club, it always seems that way when Premier League teams play lower clubs. I wouldn’t be surprised if the FA told Refs to react that way so they would get a bigger income from bigger gates in the following rounds, paranoid I know but it seems to happen too often to be just a coincidence. Good luck to Barrow, their supporters were great and like us they are a little club trying to get back to where they once were.
WHS.

I was a bit too emotional to keep posting updates, no way did this team deserve a scoreline like that. Lets take the positives from this game, up to the sending off we were on top of a team in the top half of the Conference, Ben had their number 9 in his pocket forcing them into taking him off which he was not too pleased about! Titch was given 2 chances and he scored both one of which the linesman deemed offside and the other the best goal of the game. I was very proud of all the lads today.

NEXT UP IS SKEM AND THE FIRST GAME IN A NEW LONG RUN OF WINS FOR THIS AMAZING TEAM!!!

Thanks very much for your friendliness while being here.
Hoping ‘Wittoner’ or the Barrow forum will stop with the cocky comments now

Enjoyed the game, did believe it was a sending off as Commentary said Owen had a gash on his leg.

Hoping you can continue your league form, and all the best for the rest of the season.

Once again, thanks for the hospitality.

Barrow Fan.

I’m sure we’re all proud Wittoners tonight. The lads battled all game and the final scoreline didn’t reflect the game fairly. The most disappointing thing is that we were leading and I’m sure we were all believing that we were heading for the first round! Obviously, the sending off had a big impact on the game but overall I think their full-time status served them well fitness wise.

Well played lads. It’s been a great run.

Good to see a decent crowd down at the ground and great support from Barrow. Hopefully we can cling on to a few of the newer fans that we saw today (providing they don’t throw things on the pitch - disgraceful behaviour).

We’ve still got the FA Trophy to have a go at. Get a bit more money in the kitty and try to push on in the league.

We showed today that we can compete with good teams. Let’s keep believing in this talented, young side.

We have two very hard away games now, hopefully we will get good results at both but I do hope that if things go against us we don’t lose faith in the team, it is a very good team and if we keep supporting them in any way we can this can be our most successful season in years.
WHS.

an excellent performance from witton, the result surely is in part due to some awful refereeing decisions, their no 9 should have been off after his challenge on ben, their defenders were forever pushing in the backs of our forwards and their hands were all over the place. however pritch mose and the players should take heart from this performance, and go into tuesday’s game against skem on a high , because you certainly gave barrow a real scare, they will feel flattered by the score line. well done boys let’s go on and win the league, you are certainly more than capable of that. come on lads we are so proud of you, do your best to make us even prouder. maybe some of the stawaway fans may just have realised what i have been saying all season, this is ateamon the up. i just hope we can keep it together lon enough to make a difference to us fans and see witton through to promotion. please lads show just a percentage of the loyalty to witton that our legends pritch and mose have shown to the club. thanks for your efforts in making us proud to be wittoners again.

It’s encouraging to see what the HfH sounds like with a bit of noise this season.

Well we certainly didn’t deserve that scoreline!!

I don’t want to waste any more time discussing the ref - it is starting to overshadow what was yet another great day for our club.

To match a Conf team for an hour shows just how far this team has come in such a short period of time. A lot of these lads were playing at a lower level 6 months, a year ago, and here they are almost putting 3 higher ranked teams out of the FA Cup in the space of a few weeks!

They have all bought into the spirit of the club, none more than Jamie Harrison. I understand he paid £X yesterday for his son to be mascot, which i think is fantastic (almost enough to forgive him the dodgy barnet!).

Ben was absolutely outstanding, and personally i hope he gets the move he deserves for his hard work and dedication over the last 18 months. Boothy was class aswell.

Titch just did what he always does, and the goal was fantastic. The celebrations behind the goal were a joy to be a part of.

If we take the positives from yesterday and apply them to the rest of the season then we can acheive anything. This has to be the beginning of something, we can’t let it be the end of this amazing little run.

If we can perform like that against Barrow, then Skem and Leek are in for a shock.
