I have said before, I am not what can be called a “Football Fan” but I am, for better or worse a Wittoner and no matter how bad things get that is what I will remain. I may not come to as many games as others but I try to counter that by donations to the fund which I will continue to do regardless of results. You are a “Wittoner”, LIVE WITH IT!!!

WITTON ALBION 1 EASTWOOD TOWN 2 Att. 232
Team: Smith G.; Schwarz, Pritchard, Brockley, Scott; Wiggins-Thomas (Thaker35), Linford, Drew (Thompson 74), Thornley B. (Willis 67); Skelton & Thornley R. Subs not used Dunne & Millington
Aside from a 15 minute spell at the start of the second half Eastwood had a fairly comfortable afternoon when securing their first away win of the league season whilst consigning Albion to their ninth straight defeat, their worst sequence in over 75 years!
Neither side had troubled the keepers until the quarter of an hour mark saw Mark Drew needlessly concede a free-kick, the visitors launched the ball forward, Ian Holmes got himself first to the ball only for keeper Greg Smith to do well by pushing his shot onto the post, however it was central defender MARK HUME who reacted clinically from the rebound to put his team ahead.
The Badgers then proceeded to encamp themselves in Witton territory but both Holmes and Ross Gardner missed good chances to extend the lead. It wasn’t until the 32nd minute that Shane Redmond in the Eastwood goal had a shot to save when comfortably fielding from a Mark Drew 25 yard free-kick. A minute later Dan Skelton was out-muscled by Paul Robinson as he briefly looked to burst into the goal area.
A minute into the second period Redmond this time had to pull off a good diving save from a Skelton low struck shot. On 50 minutes the score was all square, DAN SKELTON collecting the ball just over the half-way line, he played a delightful one-two with early substitute Ross Thaker before going on to hit the ball wide of Redmond’s outstretched left hand. Skipper Brian Pritchard rose to get to Thaker’s cross two minutes later but his headed attempt went narrowly over the target. Redmond then was forced to dive forward to hold on to a Drew free-kick.
Referee Ian Edwards must have left his cards back home in Liverpool when Hume blatantly stopped Rod Thornley’s progress as Albion were working up a head of steam and from another Drew free-kick Redmond was forced to dive forward to hold on to the ball.
All the home pressure evaporated though when in Eastwood’s first real sortie forward of the half Dan Schwarz conceded a free-kick close to the left side touch-line. RICHARD DUNNING took the kick and he was perhaps the most shocked player on the field as the ball evaded everyone to nestle in the far side of the net. Holmes just couldn’t his head onto Russell Cooke’s cross whilst substitute Matt Rhead was foiled by a flying save from Smith. At the other end Albion substitute Scott Willis forced Redmond to a save.
You people, can you not realise an improvement, in the first half we were as bad as it gets, in the second half it was 100% better, dont you people stop wingeing about how bad the team are, doesnt help. Before you all start shouting and balling about who the fk is he I was at FAT final with POB when most of you were still tadpoles. Then I whent serving queen and country til this season and I decided come and watch the witton, I know what went on last year, and how hard it must be for you die hards this year, but for fk sake stop crying and help the comittee and the rest of the people involved with the club get better, TOGETHER. And before you start shittin me about going home and away, just remember who was pointing weopons on a wall far away stood on a wall somewhere, so you could watch footie. THAT WILL BE ME THEN. Not KTF. Just faith.
STU
All these supporters are correct in saying we should keep the faith, the team are incapable of keeping the ball, faith is all we have left, the time has come for the manager and the majority of players to depart, no skill, no passion, no desire, no future, NO IDEA. Enough is Enough
Sorry jon8b, but who would take the place, if you can name me a better coach at this level tell me ???
Still waiting!!!
Going back to grazzers point does that mean i` d rather have flu than touch the vapour rubs.
God bless Marsh
a better coach?? How about one that hasnt coached their team into 2nd bottom. 20 to choose from there Stu. God some dont seem 2 realise if action isnt taken soon our fate will be sealed by January. Every1 has a right to complain because they deserve better. F**k the faith.
I know you’re not gonna like me saying this danny, but we have plenty of time until January (in my eyes anyway), if by then we havnt improved a bit then yes something needs to be done, although it may be too late for us if we wait that long. We are in the middle of a dillemma because you can argue that the team needs time to gel properly, and for everything to find its rhythm etc. etc. but also you can say if we wait then it will be too late and we will be saying bon voyage to the unibond premier!
Personally i am now starting to reluctantly sit on the fence instead of being constantly optimistic about the future. Too much optimism can result in being disillusioned, whereas being too pessimistic like some people are can basically ruin the morale of things and result in things going down the pan too.
Im not sure what i have just written, i have jabbered on about something random, so sorry if it makes no sense haha:P

have you seriously got no FAITH in Nige…I dont know you mate, but I know Nige and I know he wants nothing more for witton than the best. Are you one of these people that loved the set up last season ( til the end)and what happened, if you can do it better, or you know somebody that can stand tall and say it mate cos as a newby this season I only ever hear it on this forum. If Im wrong proove it.
I dont want to be disrespectful to any one of the die hard, but in the words of the song “its a new day”. Greatest respect you all of you.
Stu
err i think every1 loved the setup last season. And i think Nige is a top guy and he does want the best for witton, but just because he wants the best doesnt mean he can deliver the best. And yes witton maniac january can be too late we NEED 40 points come the end of april. We have 11, say we dont win a game til end of jan, u get 5 or 6 games a month at MOST, we’ll need 10 points a month. Is that not a big ask for a team sitting bottom.
Eli, i think the supporters have shown a hell of a lot of fight over the last few months. It’s time some of the players started fighting.
And i’ll go further to say that there are players at this Club who don’t deserve to be on that pitch with our badge on their chest.
Yes the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half were an improvment (it could hardly of gotten any worse though), but if we are only able to compete for 10, 15, 20 minutes of each game then it doesn’t take a genius to work out that we are in deep trouble.
The realitity is (and those who know me know how hard it is for me to even consider this) but Nige has 2 or 3 games at most. If we lose on Saturday then our situation is going to be very grave.
I don’t agree with people staying away, but each person is free to make their own choices. Staying away, but then posting opinion on a game that you haven’t even attended is something that i do have an issue with though.
It was too easy for Eastwood yesterday. You compare our situation with Stoke, their wage bill and resources in comparision with United, Lverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc, is similar to ours in comparison to some of the bigger sides in our league. However, you can bet Arsenal knew they were in a game yesterday - can you really say that Eastwood would feel the same?
hi ya chaps hope u dont mind me posting on ure forum its all good i promise lol, having read a few of the postings on here i can see that one or two are really frustrated how things are going on the field ,when u look at what happened to ure club at the end of last season i think theres a lot to be said for the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the club even functioning, i found everybody at the game yesterday to be very friendly and welcomeing,if u all sing from the same song sheet im sure things will turn around i for one hope they do,get behind the team and im sure things will start to look better , hope to see one or two of u at corro park for the return in the meantime all the best and keep plugging away it will get better ,
On the bright side, no Witton performance this season can come close to the “worst Witton performance of all time” last season against Fleetwood, when the players blatantly and without regard for the fans decided that they didn’t want to play. After what we now know happened in the weeks following that match, that the club had internal strife even at that time sitting at the top of the league, I wonder if the full story will ever come out about it. I hope it does. Most of the players who disgraced themselves that day have now moved on and would probably laugh out loud if you brought the subject up. But they should not be forgiven for their attitude that day.
Robbo u are right the next 2 games are crucial but we all have to keep supporting - a deserted ship always goes down.
Oh I don’t know eli, the Marie Celeste stayed afloat!!! Only kidding, you are dead right, we must ALL pull together, supporters, management and players.

 Understatement of the season!
How about a quotation from Winston Churchill to lighten the mood;
I remember when I was a child, being taken to the celebrated Barnum’s Circus, which contained an exhibition of freaks and monstrosities, but the exhibit on the program which I most desired to see was the one described as “The Boneless Wonder”. My parents judged that the spectacle would be too demoralizing and revolting for my youthful eye and I have waited fifty years, to see The Boneless Wonder sitting on the Treasury Bench.
Winston Churchill
(On Ramsay MacDonald)
That point struck me during as feeble a display of refereeing as I’ve ever seen.
How very true,it was a disgraceful refereeing display. Although with a linesman like he had for support it is believeable, he was pathetic, and I know I shouldn`t (respect) and all that, but I had to let the pillock know in no uncertain way, how can the FA require respect when their apponted officials behave like that?
Does anybody have an incling who the next management team might include?
Just like to wish Nige all the best for the future and thanks for trying, many wouldn`t even have tried.

Same useless ref that did the Gateshead 2-2 draw and the Buxton play-off semi-final defeat at Wincham Park last season, also the 1-1 draw against Frickley at the start of this season. Why do we keep getting this numpty?
