HT Witton 2 Guiseley 1
Latest 2-2
Latest its half time in extra time and still 2-2
There is obviously a massive improvement in the team regardless of the final result tonight. Sorry I am not there but I have a dose of “Man Flu” and you men will no how bad that is, women just don’t understand that we get sicker than they do!!

Result? I presume we lost as no one has posted the score.

Yep, they scored on the 119th minute. A great way to end a chilly night standing still
Result doesnt concern me. It does show however we battled well. Focus has to be solely on surviving this season considering the size of our squad and after picking up injuries in this competetion in previous games may be a blessing in disguise to go out now. No shame in getting to q.finals. Were there any injuries? Who scored? What was new lad from fleetwood like?
Danny - Both goals scored by Paul Williams. Unlucky to lose so late in extra-time but without Blackie it was always going to be hard . Saturday’s game is more important. Paul Booth seemed to be limping in the last few minuts.

cheers eli. Booth again?? Hes been awesome for us at the back. We need him fit for saturday. Think saturday will be a tight game and his presence will be crucial. Well done to paul williams getting his first goals for the club. I reckon it will be a point saturday which I can live with but will be fantastic to get all 3 going into the Boston 6 pointer!
Good, gutsy battling performance in front of 119 people and lost after 119 minutes - the irony!
Have to say I was heartened again by the commitment and quality of the team. If we can retain that then it augers well for the next two crucial games.
What doesn’t auger well is the attendance or lack of it:angry: - Take away Guiseley’s dozen and worrying I think is the word, we were at a level of one third our average attendance for a Cup Quarter Final, and that’s without the excuse of live games on TV.
This club cannot survive financially at this level with attendances like that.
Not everyone can or should be expected to go all games, but to be 200 people down makes me wonder whether we have a future.
Dwindling attendances, apathy and the pantomine over the water will lead to a crescendo of calls for a merger - I have been vehemently against such a move for 20 years but even I’m thinking that it maybe the only way forward, to retain senior non-league football in the town.
Bl**dy h*ll Andy are u having your mid-life crisis ?
another loss another piss poor attendance and talk of a merger !!! where will it end eh lol,its called comeuppence lads live with it
Thought I’d post the little piece I sent to the local press for your perusal
Tuesday February 10th 2009 UniBond League Cup Quarter Final
Witton Albion 2 Guiseley 3 (after extra-time)
TEAM: Smith; Scott, Pritchard, Booth, Warner; King, James (Warwick 107), Penswick, Williams; Thompson (Dunne 67) & Lugsden. Subs n/u Schwarz & Millington. Att 119
Albion competed well with a depleted team, giving loan signing from Fleetwood Danny Penswick his debut. They enjoyed the better of the first half taking the lead in the 12th minute. Following a great ball in from the right by Jordan King, PAUL WILLIAMS showed smart control before firing a low 15 yard shot past Piotr Skiba.
Guiseley drew level twelve minutes later from the penalty-spot, Brian Pritchard handling near the post but escaping a red card as Greg Smith was judged by Wirral referee Andrew Hutchinson to be positioned behind him and Anthony Lloyd proceeded to strike the kick into the roof of the net.
Witton regained the lead four minutes before the interval with PAUL WILLIAMS netting his second goal for the club getting on the end of a quick move forward to again strike the ball wide of Skiba’a outstretched right hand.
The 2nd half saw a vastly different picture with Albion unable to produce any real sortie into the opposition’s penalty area whilst at times it looked like Greg Smith was to prove to be the evening’s hero. He was though beaten in the 65th minute when Simeon Bambrook clipped home a ball from the left. Williams missed out on his hat-trick as the game entered stoppage time that being the only real attempt in the whole period but Guiseley then wasted an even better opportunity to win the tie in normal time when heading over from point-blank range.
Again the first half of extra-time saw Albion playing the better but when again facing the Wincham end after the break the wheels again came off as the visitors launched wave upon wave of attacks. It did though look like the penalty shoot-out was looming but in the 119th minute upon losing possession in a dangerous area James Hanson bore down on goal but kept his head to cross for Bambrook to net from a better placed central position to book the West Yorkshire outfit a place in the semi-finals.
Has that anoying little shi*te gon, I was just reading his latest instalment of crap and it seemed to just disapear, thank god, or the admin whoever did it.

Some recent pointless replies to our Nottinghamshire friend have been removed and will continue to be (with the IP address blocked if required). Banter is fun, abuse is not. Sensible arguments are acceptable whereas complete and utter rubbish just puts people off using the forum for the right reasons.

Probably better to not allow discussions like the one with boey to develop in the future, best not to take them on.
Sorry to have to disagree but I don’t like any form of censorship. I believe everyone has the right to their opinion even if it is idiotic and wrong. Once we start to filter some comments who knows where it will stop.
I for one talk crap on a regular basis but every now and again I get it right, if you ban me completely you would miss the good stuff as well as the rubbish. Boey was nuts but he was entitled to his opinion.
