well done witton
Many thanks for the fans updates

Well, it’s still in the “melting pot” but now we only have to win three games, not four. My nerves are like steel, after that game, bloody molten steel!! I can’t take much more of this Witton, please win by four or five just for the fans nerves sake!! Vics back in bottom four and unlikely to get out on Tuesday.

Great result today, sod the rest of the results. Thought Macca was brilliant, and Junior fitted in well as a makeshift fullback.

Bring on Tuesday…same time at the Thatch 12:00??

On a serious note, is there any chance of getting those junior cup finals scheduled for Sunday postponed? The pitch only just stood up to todays game. What’s it going to be like after 3 or 4 Cup finals, one after the other, tomorrow. Surely a good standard of pitch for Tuesday’s game takes preference?

Great win - fantastic support from behind the goal! I honestly think on days like today the supporters do make the difference so well done on and off the pitch.

As for the game …I thought Guiseley played some good stuff and JK made some really sharp saves through the game and especially in the first 10 to 15 Mins.

We got better and a fantastic strike from Mr Warlow put us ahead. IT may not have beena 30 yarder, but that cool finish under pressure was just excellent.

We also had a a few other good chances the best of which from Tony Evans drew a magnificent save from their keeps. But hey-ho we won!!

So on to Frickley - I think we owe them!!

Whilst I agree the pitch was far from perfect today I see no problem in kids playing on it tomorrow if there is no more rain. It should be fine for Tuesday if the rain stays away, I think the groundspeople are doing a great job and I am sure they will say if they think playing tomorrow is not on. Remember when you were a kid? there was no tomorrow or next week, just NOW. The kids will be devastated if you call off their Cup Finals and those kids are the Wittoners of the future, either on the terraces or even on the pitch.

Sorry - scheduling these games at the end of the season is just daft. We don’t have full time ground staff and the team must come first. We have so many problems getting the ground right and then repaired once the season has ended, I would have thought we had learned by now. Sorry ! Rant Over! back to the Guiseley game please…

3 more wins please!!!

well done BUT were still here;)

well done lads … just 3 more to go … im a nervous wreck!!

wooop wooop come on witton

Regrettably the Mid-Cheshire Youth Cup Finals are off tomorrow. The pitch after today’s game is not fit to host one, let alone three, games tomorrow but it was inspected by the club in a professional manner and, in consultation with the groundstaff, it has deemed unfit.

Sorry, Roger, these games are organised for this time of year because, as a family club, we encourage Youth football to play the premier finals on a premier pitch in the district. It would also be a good earner in the tea hut [for which we have obviously had to stock] which would fund several £00’s of pounds toward the playing budget. So please don’t criticise decisions that, in fact, work in Witton’s favour. The next finals are on the Sunday after the Worksop game & I hope we are able to get these played, weather permitting.

Also, if Tuesday’s game is postponed the Frickley game will be rescheduled for Thursday.

GE

The team played well today we battled against a strong team that also played some nice football. JK made a great save first half to keep it even but we did look solid all game. There keeper had a good game and it was down to him we did not score more goals today. Great finish by Warlow. Fans made lots of noise today and when we scored it went crazy. I carnt wait for tuesday.

Fantastic result today against a good side, Could and should have won by more. Thornley had a great chance one on one and Tony Evans header was somehow saved, warlow also hit the bar etc etc

Their goalkeeper was excellent as he has been all season when we have played against him for Guiseley and when he played for Osset.

Bring on Frickley…we are in control WE are top o the league say WE are top o the league.

sorry GE we will just have to agree to disagree

Superb result, well doen and gutted not to have been there.
One down Three to go, I think last years experience will see us through but it will be tight to the death.

Fair play to the club with the junior cup finals, this time last year it was baking hot and the pitch was being watered. I’m 37 and would love to sink my studs in that turf, there will be a lot of dissapointed kids tonight and as a FAMILY club the right decision has been made.

I agree with the decision by the ground staff, if they say “no” then fair enough. When I was a kid of 17 or so I played four times at the old Central Ground, two semi finals and one final, plus a trial game for the Mid-Chshire league squad (I did’nt get in) and I can tell you they were the highlights of my young life, I was on the same turf as had been trod by Joey Dale, Frank Fidler,Alf Ashley and all those other famous players I had watched. I was, in Fotball parlance, “OVER THE MOON”. I don’t begrudge these youngsters a chance to play on the pitch any time it is fit, end, middle or beginning of the season, the experience will stay with them all their lives.
