HT Witton 0 - 1 Hednesford
now down to 10 men
according to hednesford website it was the number 4 that got sent off. Who could it be?
2-0 penalty and another sent off ( according to hednesford website)
Sod’s Law I suppose - after 2 promising performances at Prescot and Ferriby today’s was pretty poor. Hednesford are top of the league and had some half decent players. We should not be expecting too much from our lads this early in the season but there was no excuse for Liams dismissal.
We defo missed Willis in midfield and were unlucky to lose Ben Thornley with a hamstring so early in the game.Gary Scott also sent off for last man tackle in the box .
Keep the Faith
At least we had a good ref today
Clearly we struggled today through missing two influential midfield players. Hednesford were built more like a rugby side than a football team, their shortest player was taller than all but Liam Coyne on our team. Having said that, they didn’t have a great deal of ability, but were very well organised, and faster than us, although we could outpass them. Of course, everyone at the game today knows who had most influence on it, think he deserves a thread of his own!
Big “Thank you” to all who had a go on the Half Time raffle. I collected £69 and the other lad collected a fair bit too. Heads up, the side who beat us today may well win this league and if our luntic centre half hadn’t got himself sent off we might have got back into the game. People are having a go at the Ref. He didn’t cost us the game, our Centre Half did.

I wouldn’t say he cost us the game, but there is no way he was fair, he was unbelievably biased. I seem to recall you posting that you believe all officials make genuine decisions, they may be wrong, but they give what they genuinely believe are correct decisions. I wish I could believe that, I really do, but I have seen too much evidence to the contrary, and plenty of it today. Just as I can accept a poor performance from players, as long as there is effort, I can accept a poor but consistent and equitable performance from officials, but I cannot accept what I witnessed today.
In my humble opinion the biggest mistake the Ref made was allowing our keeper to wear the same colour shirt as Hednesford and allowing our subs to warm up wearing Red shirts. Proves he was a bit incompetent, but I don’t honestly think he was a cheat. Apart from anything else I cannot see what he would get out of cheatiing, unless you are insinuating he was bribed!! No, the biggest reason we losr was our centre half who I sincerely hope gets his act totgether or leaves our Club ASAP. His sending off was a disgrace to the Club, I for one don’t want to see that sort of foul play from anyone in our team.

Cant complian about the effort, the lads gave 100% and thats all we can ask for. Hednesford were just better. Both sendings off were fair, the first one was not what I want to see from a Witton player. The second was pure will to get there to the player in the first place so not too much to complain about.
The ref did ok, we were just not good enough on the day. Didnt like to see the crowd waiting for the ref at the end either. Not the Witton way at all.
Get behind the team, they are going to need it. It wont be too hard if they continue to give everything. Well done lads.
Agree I thought we were the better side for the first 20 mins, but we seemed to lose our way when Ben Thornley went off, with Willis not starting that left a big void in the midfield.
The referee wasn’t the reason we lost in any way shape or form, Hednesford will be in the top 6 come the end of season.
His performance and that of the linesmen second half beggared belief, not one incident, but Witton were denied countless free kicks. In fact there was a blatant foul before Hednesford broke away for the penalty and resulting sending off. Surely in the last minute some discretion could have been applied before the sending off?
Onwards and Upwards
“Discretion is the better part of Valour” and the Ref had little of either, but like Witton I think he did his best.

you lot will be nowhere near the playoffs this season see you in a few years maybe:laugh:
To Vics fan, you are headig our way even if we are not heading yours. By the way, when Connett sells out it will not be to you lot but to another businessman, best of luck.

Delighted to see Mr. Deeley’s comment in the Guardian regarding foul play by our players, he will not put up with it which is great to hear.

We are not a deluded bunch, building a new side from scratch, we know it will take a while to build a team to challenge for the top. So what is the reason for your stupid remark…Hang on…ERM… Vics fan-stupid…AH, got it now   :lol:lol
Delusion is a word that very much suits Vics fans. They think they can win the league, the FA Trophy and that their new “Benefactors” are buying the ground off Connett to give it to Vics out of the goodness of their hearts, if that’s not deluded I don’t know what is. As for us, we have two difficult games next followed by what should be an easier one against Buxton. If we have another 4 points or so then, I for one will be satisfied with our new team. Meanwhile Vics fans, keep dreaming that one day you will own your own ground and that “your” team will actaully belong to you and not some disinterested businessmen.
