Hednesford should travel in large numbers for this one so letās get up for this! Cāmon wiiiiitttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnn
Very difficult game against a physical side, lets hope that the energy that took on that āsurfaceā at stafford wasnāt a bridge too far.
No disrespect to Staffordās groundstaff.
PS we all must thank Tim" the groin" Atherton for all the work he has done on the Wincham pitch, mainly unaided this week.
Also a speedy recovery to Pete Robinson after his operation. Pete spends hours and hours a week on the pitch every week. I am getting rather concerned he has named each blade of grass and the knows the day it germinated. :clap
Looking forward to the game tomorrow, Iam quietly confident :clap With Powell in midfield and Tuck gaining fitness think we can definitely get something out of the game!
Skybet have us at 11/5 if anyone fancies making some money http://www.skybet.com/football/northern-league
come on all you albion armchair fans get down to the h4h stadium for this top of the league clash, and help cement a play off position, which is what this side has earned with the performances they have put in this season. this is a big game for the club so donāt let them or the players down, they will be up for it. are you?
We all know that home games have as much atmosphere as a library.
The players have commented that it lifts them when we sing.
We need to get behind them today.
Defo!!! weāve said this before but we need to make the same noise at home as we do when werāe away. COME ON WITTON
Who scored
Gardner penalty.
Meadowcroft sent off in 43rd minute. Their No.3 sent off in 75th minute.
Loads of missed chances by HT in first half.
How Danny Andrews missed with an open goal in the 80th minute only he knows.
Played very well in the second half but great saves in the first half by Stuart Plant kept us in it.
MOM named as Stuart Plant but Foster and Powell played particularly well.
GE
Gutted we didnt win that, but not a bad result overall. As GE said, Plant made some great saves. Yet again, the ref was garbage. The push in Sheehanās face bizarrely went unpunished, and the foul on Tuck when the defender was last man should have been a red, given that heād sent Meadowcroft off for pretty much the same reason in the same spot.
Didnt have a good view of their red; seemed like the referee was relived to be able to give it after the (justified) abuse he got for not giving one minutes earlier.
Thought the lads gave everything today and could have come away with the 3 points on another day. Maybe Mose should be in charge more often
Edit: great noise from the home fans. I think sometimes you need a bit of drama in the game, not necessarily in our favour, to get everyone going, and so it was today. Pretty much non stop singing for the last 10 or 15 minutes :clap
I thought it was a really interesting game, full of twists. How we went in at h/t nil-nil beats me. Funny that HT never looked the same team once we went a man down.
I thought we BOSSED the 2nd half and showed superb levels of fitness, but few would be disappointed with a draw. Plant was superb in the first half and Powell showed sheer class as a replacement centre half. Most of the team played well.
Proud to be a Wittoner (yet again).
Absolutely FANTASTIC effort, credit where credits due the lads did us proud today. A great game to watch and true that we dominated the second half after Plant kept us in it 1st half with some very very good saves.
Play like we did 2nd half today in our remaining games and we will finish in a great position.
Mom had to be Plant, Powell and glover were fantastic at centre half aswell in 2nd half
UTA
I think we can take a lot of positives mentally from that today, we showed that once we start to tick we can beat anybody.
First-half I thought we were poor, although maybe Hednesford made us look poor. After HT it was completely different as we started to create chances.
Very happy with a point but frustrated not to have taken all three gievn our chances at the end.
I also think Iām in love with Michael Powell
Absolutely wonderful second half performance by the ten men! We could have been out of it by half time but Plant was brilliant! We could and maybe should have won it really! I must say I didnāt realise they had a man sent off! A significant police presence seemed to be needed to deal with thier fans.
Plant was superb in the first half making a number of great saves which kept us in the game. I thought we actually started to play better football after the sending off by getting the ball on the deck and finding feet more. From that point on we were the better side and looked most likely to take all 3 points. Powell is proving to be a real astute signing which was shown again today by slotting into centre half with him and Josh Glover having great games as well as Fozzie in the middle of the park.
The work rate from the team in the 2nd half was brilliant to see and I think this attitude somewhat shocked Hednesford who really struggled to get any control on the game. How the ref didnāt send off their player for pretty much the same offence as Meadowcroft was unbelievable, but with such a reckless tackle a few minutes later on Fozzie it didnāt give him any other option than a straight red especially with us being more vocal at home than usual. :cheer:
Disappointed with the 1 point on the basis of the 2nd half performance but overall a fair result given Hednesfords dominance in the first half and if someone had said at half time you could take a draw youād have definitely taken it. Brilliant effort by all the players which should help us push on over the next few games.
Great effort by the team and a great game to watch full of action we were the better football team they were bigger and more athletic and I can see why they do well referee had a shocker, both sides missed some very good chances and both keepers had top games a point was sort of ok but thought we shaded it overall and how dod Danny miss that chance to win it ?
First half we would have been thankful for a point and second half disappointed we dropped two! Despite the police presence and disturbances in town it was good to see a well supported team bringing fans to our ground. Some were the wrong sort but I didnāt see any trouble in the ground. It was funny they were chanting about the town āNorthwich is a sĀ£*t hole I wanna go homeā They have a point though!!! Back to the game. Both sides gave 100%, nothing to separate the teams and an attendance of over 500 was good to see. Very enjoyable match just a bit disappointed we didnāt take all 3 points, :red suppose the ref had no choice with ours but their defenders tackle was a disgrace SBL
Has a Hednesford fan Iād say we didnāt play our best yesterday. Think it was a fair result at the end of the day and Witton Albion were one of the best teams we have faced this season. Has for your set up nice ground and a nice club house will visit again if we donāt go up.
a draw was probably a fair result over 90 minutes, but the way we played in the second half left me feeling disappointed not to have taken all 3 points, the referee was diabolical and should not be allowed to officiate ever again. a protest should be lodged against an official who apparently does not know the rules of the game. on a final note, we really must start playing from the first whistle and not when we go one down, and we must learn to keep the ball on the deck more instead of launching hopeful long high balls forward. when we play our passing game opposing defences panic, so please please play the ball around the park, it really is a joy to watch.
