Jack:ohmy:

League table now updated to include the scores that matter!

Only downer on the day is bloody Vics won again !!!

It is back in our hands now lets not let it slip out again. am i right in saying that we have no game next week.

No downers today!

FANTASTIC RESULT!!

Thought Junior Brown made an impact and i am made up for Warlow, he needed a goal or three, lets just hope he can score a few more now.
GET IN!!

Arguably the wettest game of football I’ve ever seen live, and I shall give credit to both teams, for at the very least timing their tackles accordingly on a pitch that became heavier and heavier, and at times became a little dangerous. Unfortunately Ian Kearney’s game was cut short but I reckon the tackle that ended it was not assisted by the water just woefully late by the Lincoln player.

Lincoln were very poor, and it is very apparent that they don’t give two figs about their current campaign anymore.

The biggest cheers of the afternoon came when Chad announced that the Lincoln keeper had taken the MOM!!

McPherson was Witton’s MOM and rightly so, this type of game was almost made for him, gritty, and dogged all afternoon, and rarely lost the ball.

6 goals, Adam back amongst the goals, a promising debut from Junior Brown and Fleetwood dropping points, several beers are calling…

Brazil in the mud today - Lincoln were poor but we kept playing the football in the atrocious conditions. Macca had a great game but must give 5 hatricks this season Adam Warlow the MoM.

Sympathise we u MT, it took me 40 minutes ( usually 10 )to get to WP at 1.00pm.

absolutely great performance!

Well done to adam superb hatrick.

Junior Brown was very impressive.

3 points get in!

Well done Jim and the Lads.
Lincoln were poor but to score 6 in those conditions is class.
We might have been slipping about but it’s the codpieces who have slipped up:laugh:
4 games to go and it’s in our hands.
Great to see Adam scoring yet another hat-trick.
That’s bouncebackability:laugh:

brilliant and well done to junior brown he made a great impact today

Absolutely fantastic response to the disappointment of Monday. Thought we started with a bit of a hangover from the Fleetwood game and it was probably no coincidence that the standout players of the 1st 20 mins were Junior Brown and Rod Thornley. Once we got the first goal though it settled us down and there was only ever going to be one winner. Great to see Ad back amongst the goals, lets hope he can carry todays form into the final 4 games of the season. Junior’s goal was a good header, Peersy’s was a great hit, and Pritch will never score an easier header!

We had a strong position before todays results but now we really are in pole position. 2 weeks to recover from any knocks and then the Guiseley game, it can’t come quick enough!

All those that were quick to criticise on Monday, I hope your just as quick with your positive comments.

E I E I E I O!!!

well done lads !! great game today!!

wooooop woooooop !! come on witton !!!

Fantastic result - both at WP and Fleetwood…

Great way to bounce back after Monday!

I was just looking at the remaining games:

Cods:

Buxton (A)
Stamford (H)
Lincoln (A)
Buxton (H)
Stamford (A)
Leek Town (A)
Frickley (H)

Albs:

Guiseley (H)
Frickley (H)
North Ferriby (A)
Worksop (H)

So the Cods have FOUR away games. Odd that they’ve yet to play both Buxton and Stamford. Buxton could do us a huge favour…

Anyone like to forecast (i.e. W/L/D) the outcome of the Cods last 7 games? Might be a bit of fun to see how good you are!

I’m one happy camper tonight!..

UniBond Premier League - Saturday March 29th 2008

WITTON ALBION 6 LINCOLN UNITED 0 att 366

TEAM: Kennedy; Kearney (Lloyd 75), Pritchard, Barrass, Brownhill; Brown J., Brown A., MacPherson, Peers (Brodie 72); Warlow, Thornley (Rapley 72)

Entertainment 4/5 Star Man: DAVE MacPHERSON

With puddles appearing all over Wincham Park’s immaculate surface the league leaders applied themselves fully to the conditions, washed aside their Easter Monday stutter against their only realistic title challengers Fleetwood Town, and ended this contest sailing ten points clear, with the remaining fixtures fast running out.

Lincoln produced the first telling shot on goal and Jon Kennedy got across well to push Steve Woolley’s good effort around the post. On the quarter of an hour mark following a corner kick a cross from Mark Peers saw Adam Warlow crash a header against the cross-bar, the ball rebounded to Brian Pritchard but Andy Potter defended well to clear the ball off the line. The basement side’s experienced striker Leon Wainman wasted a clear opportunity to put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute when a wayward clearance by Kennedy fell straight at the forward’s feet but he produced a shot well wide of the yawning goal.

Two minutes later Albion took the lead, Dave MacPherson’s perseverance saw the ball arrive at Peers’ feet and the winger sent in a cross that was met at the far post by debutant dead-line day loan signing JUNIOR BROWN with the young Crewe Alexandra contract player converting his downward header off keeper Lee Walker. Brown continued to be a constant threat several times narrowly failing to score a second as Albion were now totally dominating the match. Peers sent his effort into the side netting virtually on the stroke of half-time.

Five minutes into the second-half the lead doubled, MacPherson sending Rod Thornley in on goal, Walker blocked his attempt but ADAM WARLOW following up made sure gleefully ending his seven match barren run. Warlow then turned provider in the 66th minute picking MARK PEERS out on the left edge of the area, the winger producing a class finish past Walker.

In a five minute spell Albion doubled their tally as the hapless visitors floundered completely. MacPherson, who was truly relishing the conditions, again the provider in the 74th minute with ADAM WARLOW planting the ball past the advancing Walker. The league’s top scorer then notched his 5th hat-trick of the campaign and took his individual tally to 27 goals when again winning the one-on-one contest against the keeper after collecting the ball just inside the half.

Lincoln’s Laurence Hall was mighty lucky to only receive a yellow card from the otherwise efficient Salford based referee Daniel Roberts when he scythed Ian Kearney down and onto the running track. The scoring was rounded off in the 79th minute when centre-back BRIAN PRITCHARD firmly headed home from substitute Steve Brodie’s corner-kick to rack up Witton’s 50th home league goal of the season as well as Albion’s 100th of the campaign. Also along the way Kennedy kept his 18th shut-out!

By the time Albion play their next match, coincidentally against Guiseley who’d held Fleetwood this afternoon, the Fylde outfit will have played their three matches in hand. On today’s showing though surely nothing will stop Witton achieving their ultimate goal!

What a couple of fantastic results, fleetwood reckoned they would win all 8 and they slip up in the first one. No doubt they will fail to win in one or two more. junior has come in at the right time looks to be a great loan signing to help us up. He always looked exciting when on the ball today. If fleetwood saw him they would be planning their play off trips already. Want to give a mention to Liam Brownhill today because nobody ever mentions him much on here but he has been an excllent full back for us this season gave plenty of support to junior on the left hand side today.
Gutted at going 2 weeks without a game, but will enjoy sitting back and seeing if Fleetwood can slip up again.
All in all brilliant boys to score 6 in them conditions, excellent work by jim throwing junior straight into the mix, just think about guiseley arguably our toughest remaining game is next but we have plenty of preperation time. And i thought id have a crack at your predictions

Up the albion!!!

Cods:

Buxton (A) L 1-3
Stamford (H) w 2-0
Lincoln (A) W 3-0
Buxton (H) D 0-0
Stamford (A) D 1-1
Leek Town (A)W 2-1
Frickley (H) W 2-1

Albs:

Guiseley (H) w 2-0
Frickley (H) w 2-1
North Ferriby (A) d 0-0
Worksop (H)w 4-1

leaving table lke this…

  1. Witton 92pts
  2. Fleetwood 86pts

and leaving me like this…

The best possible response to last Monday’s outcome.

From the kick off I felt the crowd were really behind the team and appreciated the dramatic impact of Junior Brown. As pressure built on the Lincoln goal people arond me were almost willing the ball into the back of the net. Once we made the breakthrough with some great passing football there was really only one team in it. Great to see Adam add to his tally to put him back on top of the league hot shots table. Pritch deserved his contribution, too.

Given how well we coped with the weather against Buxton over Christmas, perhaps we need more appalling conditions in which to shine…?

Excellent in every department in very difficult conditions. Despite the challenge of the pitch we played exactly the way we know how, the way we played in this match are why we are in the position we are in. If we pass the ball quickly and move we are too good for any opposition in this league. The formation and approach to yesterday was spot on.

Very had to single out players as they all played well. Thought Macca was tremendous, as said before, he loves games like this and his work from back to front was immense. TB and Pritch were solid, great to see the big fella get his goal (been a while) - if we improve the delivery to him at set pieces he will score more with his head. Thought Junior Brown looked a terrific prospect for Crewe, played well on the wing and at left back, we’ll find a place for him next season if they think he needs a year on loan!!!

For Adam to score his fifth hat-trick shows just how important he has been for us this year, he could still get to 30 goals and to achieve this two seasons running is exceptional. At the other end JK kept his 18th clean sheet (he best go out and buy an Italian phrase book as surely he will win the league competition.

Fleetwood were never going to win all their remaining games and I still doubt they will pick up all 6 points against Buxton home and away. Trips to Lincoln and Leek on Tuesday nights will both we horrid! I would say that 2 wins and 1 draw will probably win it with 89 points, BUT we should focus on winning every game, that way there will be no if’s, but’s and maybe’s.

Gutted that I am missing the next three games (fully expect us to win this whilst away), but I have seen more than enough to convince me that we deserve to be the champions!
