A massive game tomorrow I personally think that 3 points (if we get them) will be enough to see us get a playoff spot, but you just never know with Witton
I see that Matlock have a mini crisis in the goalkeeper selection as John Kennedy is out for the remainder of the season having nearly chopped the ends of his fingers off last week https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BHPNTYTCEAA0xb-.jpg:large it seems that they have a choice of their assistant manager or a 19 year old inexperienced youth keeper, lets hope we can exploit this :woohoo:
Lets get down and make some noise, no matter where we end up in after these last 4 games its been another great season :clap
If theres any fans in this league who can get under the skin of a nervous keeper its us!
Think a bit of banter early on from behind the goal might help the team
DODGY KEEPER!!
Since listening to Pritch on the podcast talking about noise levels at home games I thought maybe some additional songs might help. Like most football songs, I have unashamedly stolen them from other (mainly Manchester based) clubs. Feel free to use, change, ignore or maybe as a prompt to develop some more songs to help carry the lads into the play offs!
UTA!
Tuck scores them at home,
Tuck scores them away,
He might be a scouser,
But he knows how to play
(to the tune of the Ronaldo song at United)
At number one is Mike Moseley
At number two is Mike Moseley
At number three is Mike Moseley… (and so on)
At number twelve is Mike Moseley
We all live in a Mike Moseley world, a Mike Moseley world, a Mike Moseley world
(Tune: Yellow Submarine by The Beatles)
I am an Albion man
I am a Witton fan
I know what I want
And I know how to get it
I want to see Witton back up high
And I want to piss on northwich vics
(Tune: Anarchy in the UK by The Sex Pistols)
Danny, Danny Andrews
Danny Andrews on the wing
(To the tune of the 1970s Willie Morgan song)
Really looking forward to my first home game since early October.
The weather looks perfect here in Yorkshire, hopefully the same in Mid Cheshire (is ours!).
Vocal chords at the ready.
Zigga Zagga :cheer: :cheer:
Well 3 0 flattered us but at this stage just take the 3 points and move on, good performances from Powell, Harrison and Joseph and tuck n fossie up front but overall we were very flat and missed Hancock, woods and gards who add so much to our attacking, matlock were not very good and we beat them so job done, rushall losing was a bonus so nearly there now ! Let’s hope if we make the playoffs we have everyone fit UTA
It’s funny how an early goal often does you no favours. If we’d have got a 2nd in the early period it could have been an easy game, but it turned into a nervy and niggly affair. I thought Matlock were allowed to get away with far too many late tackles and off the ball incidents, but they ended up with what their quality deserved - naff all.
Obviously injuries and tiredness have taken their toll - thank heavens for a full week break while others have to scrap and take points off each other. I thought the front two worked so hard today, and indeed, no one played badly although we didn’t really click, but we do need those regulars back.
3 battling wins in a row - what a team we have.
Come on the Albs we can do this, we could still be playing Stockport County in league games next season…!!
Started as if we were going to batter 'em today but in the end 3-0 was a bit flattering really, we really missed Gards and Matty I reckon, we’ll take that mind!!
Today was about getting a win and thankfully we did that tho it was a nervy game until we got the 2nd!
We now know a win at Frickley next week means a play off place!
I would just like to add that Shaun Tuck has been suffering with flu all week and felt crap today but my god it didnt show on the pitch, great performance and a deserved MOM
At this stage of the season to beat Matlock 3 nil is an excellent result. They have had some decent results themselves recently, so this was a potential banana skin.
We’re not looking for performances, we’re looking for results. Job done.
2 games to go, and surely a win on Saturday will wrap it up.
See you v Rushall - i’m hoping to see more positivity there than i’m reading on here.
Whilst we were only 1-0 up for most part of the game I dont think at any point it was 'nervy. As said above, Matlock created nothing and whilst I know they had alot of injuries coming into the game I felt they were one of, if not, the worst teams to come to witton this season.
The only reason we weren’t out of sight before the last 5 mins was, in my opinion, because the referee let far too much go and they broke up our rhythm with intentional kick outs and fouls.
I think its testament to Ben and Marc at centre half that the back four seemed organised and rarely challenged despite the fact that our first choice full backs were out. Tuck and Fozzie both worked their socks off and the first goal (and a some of the subsequent flurry of chances) came from the front men pressuring their back four into mistakes.
3rd to last game of the season, pressure on to win, against a team with no pressure on at all I think ever single one of us would have taken 1-0, let alone 3-0. We are the time of the year when results matter and results we continue to achieve.
On a side note we technically need 3 points from the final two games to be mathematically certain of the playoffs but I wouldnt be surprised if we already have enough points on the board with the games Buxton and Rushall have left. But looking up rather than down, Fylde have now lost 3 out of 4 and are stumbling over the line and fc united have been now great shakes for weeks, 3rd place is unlikely but by no means impossible.
When i said nervy i just meant how many times in recent years have we conceded late equalisers against teams we have dominated! Matlock forced a few late corners before we got the 2nd but really we should of been out of sight before half time.
As for the play off places im not too bothered where we finish as there all going to be tough games and our away record is very good, another final would be a dream…
Dare we dream? UTA
Witton can defo be in the final! I think Witton are the inform team and don’t need to fear anyone. On Fyldes forum they were saying they would rather play anyone except Witton!!
