They had 7 different bookings during the game. Counting the one who had a 2nd booking, you could say that was 8 bookings.
2 more players were ‘booked’ after the game.

WITTON ALBION 2 NORTH FERRIBY UNITED 1 Saturday March 14th
TEAM: Speare; Scott, Pritchard, Booth, Warner; Maylett, Dunn, James (Dunne 66), Lawless; Thompson & Lugsden. Subs n/u Moseley, Schwarz, Warwick & Smith G.
Star Man: Kieran Lugsden Attendance 245
This game eventually finished with the visitors totally incensed when Liverpool based referee Mr J.L. Madine ruled out skipper Paul Foot’s stoppage time header pointing out that substitute Gary Bradshaw had backed-in and fouled home keeper Jamie Speare. Both the East Yorkshire team’s Manager and Assistant Manager now face disciplinary proceedings as they charged onto the field after the final whistle to verbally accost the match official. Added to the fact that seven of their players were cautioned, with Kevin Larvin quite rightly dismissed for a second yellow card in the 56th minute, then their previous proud record of leading the UniBond Fair Play table will now see them incur the wrath of the Football Association together with a hefty fine.
Forced to change keepers after Greg Smith suffered a pre-match injury Albion bossed the opening quarter of the encounter with Ashley Dunn, the mid-week hat-trick hero, seeing his shot blocked whilst Kieran Lugsden was denied when his back-flick attempt struck a defender. They eventually got their noses in front in the 26th minute. Lugsden, after evading two tackles was brought to ground and JOHN LAWLESS stepped up to blast the resultant spot-kick past Steve Wilson.
The goal though saw Ferriby step up their game plan but Russell Fry after getting onto a crafty free-kick from Colin Hunter shot tamely at Jamie Speare. The 37th minute saw them draw level, a needlessly conceded corner saw Fry send the ball into the danger area and Paul Foot flicked the ball home from close range.
The second period saw Simon Bird’s free-kick just go wide of Speare’s right post whilst now down to ten men Calum Russell failed to get enough height as he attempted a lob. Albion’s Brad Maylett forced Wilson into a low-down save and it wasn’t until seven minutes from time that Albion got that vital second goal.
A truly marvellous goal, KIERAN LUGSDEN collecting the ball on the half-way line, sending a pass to the wide right touch-line for Brad Maylett to advance and produce a cross to the far post that was headed home by Lugsden who’d fairly scampered down the middle of the park to thus earn Albion three precious points near the bottom of the table as well as put a dent in the visitors play-off chances.
Four minutes later Dunn broke through the middle but his shot struck the base of the right hand upright. Speare did very well to hang on to all three points as the game entered stoppage time when clawing the ball off the goal-line as Ferriby to their vast credit continued to venture forward.
From my Dad and myself and also from the mates who joined us ,to all the staff at Witton Albion who made our afternoon very enjoyable as match sponsors. We were excellently managed and treated all round.
Just a note on choice of MoM .As i feel it only right to explain , we actually found it quite difficult to pin point other players as the conditions were not helping too many players . but with the windy conditions espicially in the first half , the 2 captains Brain Pritchard and Paul Foot seemed to be so un-flustered and never paniced when a high ball was hanging there. I dont recall Brian making a bad pass all match ,until I think it was his stray header led to the last min corner , by then we had made our choice anyway.
So as the game went on it was those two players we chose. there number 10 Calum Russell was in contention, but was quiet second half
It was an excellent finish by Kieren good attacking move from the right w provide the winner . 3points in the bag,a gritty team performance . Man of the match is all about different opinions . Great Day Thanks again
Football is all about opinions Traveller007(Trevor??) and from my point of view Pritch plays at a standard and with a passion that means every week he could be mom!!!
Again most of the people who post (myself included) watch the game closest to the attacking third so the forward players tend to stand out more.
Glad you enjoyed your day, many thanks for supporting the club and hope to see you soon.
Quite right Andy about where we normally stand at the ground is usually level with 18 yrd line or like yourself behind the goal. Yesterday was a closer view to defensive performances.
Glad you enjoyed your day as sponsors Traveller, it’s great to hear your positive comments about the day. It’s your perogative to choose the MOM and I don’t think you’ll find too many arguments in choosing Pritch.
Ironically (and you will see from my past posts how highly I rate the fella), I thought he was not at his absolute best yesterday. The player unmarked in the box for their equaliser was arguably his man to defend (although firstly it was a soft corner to give away and secondly it should not have reached as far as it did in the box without being headed away). Also as you say his back header did lead to the late corner.
The above are isolated incidents and don’t overshadow the consistency of the man, he continues to put in 100% performances week in week out (despite carrying a niggling injury for a couple of months). We will never have another player as loyal or as committed as the big man. MOM awards after 650 games and 13 seasons says it all.
I would have found it difficult to pick a man of the match yesterday. On balance, because of his goal and 90 minutes of effort (for the second time this week), I would probably have picked Lugsden. I think we have just seen his two best performances for the club over the last week. Second on my list would have been Maylett, I thought he was involved in most of our forward play and crowned a great performance with an inch perfect cross for Kieran’s header.
I thought Brad Maylett was absolutely superb throughout. Along with John Lawless we have quality on both flanks which is already starting to pay dividends. Once Mike Moseley and Neil Black are at full fitness we will possess a forward line to terrorise any defence in this division.
A very good second half display, first half was ok but it seemed as though the WP nerves had set in again. In the second half we did exactly what we needed to do, play football and play it on the floor as much as possible, and it worked some good individual displays, but a good all round team performance. The funniest thing was the two looney NFU fans who were near the tunnel at the end convinced that all their bookings were wrong, ALL OF THEM!!! It is now at that stage of the season where every point counts and if we can play like that in our games remaining we should finish in a respectable position, which would be a real bonus considering the changes that have been made this season.
Well done players and management.
Stu
I thought it was ‘Rainman’ by the tunnel. Didn’t know whether to laugh or hug him!
I noticed you were enjoying the banter with the one with a bay window in his shirt, shame.
