Witton v Prescot

Come on folks. We are still in with a chance for play offs.2-2 was fair result imo after an earlier wobble.

Not a terrible result in the grand scheme of things. We could have won all our remaining games and still finished third; it’s unlikely that the top 2 will BOTH slip up.

We have a gap above and below us so unless we go on a terrible run, third seems pretty much assured. Beat Woodley and we go to Lancaster at least 6 points clear of them, where a draw would be a great result to keep them at bay.

Agreed we were a bit slow out of the blocks last night, but (cliche alert) the lads deserve credit for coming from two down and almost winning it. If we can keep that form for Saturday, we can win. Hopefully a bumper crowd, and no penalties. Is it Coops’ turn yet?

As for their number 8, when the pen was saved he ran to the linesman, pointed at him and screamed “warghhhhh!”. I half expected him to blow a raspberry too.

What a blow! What’s happening with these penalties? I think it is an issue and not to be brushed under the carpet. Chances are we will make the play-offs (hopefully !!) - what are the chances of a penalty shoot-out to decide a tie? Pretty good I’d have thought.

How many have we missed this season? How many saved, woodwork or still waiting to land ala Charlie Adam? Anyone got the stats?

Suggest we get some serious practice in.

Coops should take next pen as I think everybody else has had a go. Coops on pen and 6 of our lads minding our sticks, yes not an impossible scenario.

Have to agree. We showed great character to come back from 2-0 down and the first half was a great game to watch.

Their number 3 (think it was ex albion man Ablett?) disgraceful takle.

I think we are due a bit of luck with penalty taking…

Still at least 6 games to play, and still a great chance to go up. Iam still happy  UTA

IT ain’t over until the fat lady sings and she hasn’t even cleared her throat yet! Still time for Curzon and Fylde to panic.
WHS.

Just hope that Cables play with the same style and vigour when they entertain Curzon, Farsley & Lancaster as well as in their trip to Skelmersdale.

They sure will have a bearing on how the top 5 will look come teatime on April 21st

not the end of the world, but we must start converting penalties. this must be a priority in training, because thi could become crucial in the play offs, which i am confident we will make. but more importantly we must convert more of the chances we create in games. we seem to create easy chances and miss a high proportion of them. however i will scream my lungs out to see witton gain promotion. if it has to be through the play offs so beit , but we will do it, so evryone get down to the h4h stadium on saturday and cheer the lads on, they have worked hard to get where they are now, and as the best footbal playing team in thius league certainly deserve promotion. come on witton.

Surely the penalty problem answer is simple.
Don’t “place” it and don’t kick it low, most keepers dive across not up.
Just blast it.
The Coops suggestion has some merit but in the event of a save or rebound you’re exposed.
Gards and Matty Wood have powerful shots, give them a go.
But whoever it ends up being, smack it hard.

I think the main problem with our penalties is how long it actually takes to take the penalty after the decision has been made. Often our penalty taker picks up the ball places on the spot then has to wait 3 minutes for ref to gain control. Heard chad say a couple of times they should walk away. Couldn’t agree more why leave yourself standing there for a few minutes. Take yourself out of the situation and step up once the ref has control and made the keeper get on his line.

Agree, it’s becoming a joke how long it takes the ref to get all their players out of the way and get the keeper on his line. If a keeper walks off his line and stands there like an idiot why not just book him.
