I see details of the Easter Monday security arrangements have been posted on Fleetwood’s website.
There is reaction on their forum.

Not happy Cod’s are they.
cod almighty… whatever next
I think the club are making a mistake by not allowing Fleetwood supporters into the bar and by segregating the crowd, it will be seen that we are punishing their decent majority of TRUE supporters for the actions of a few idiots.
We had two bigger games at the end of last season against Telford and their notorious supporters didn’t cause us a problem so why are we over reacting to the supposed threat from Fleetwood.
Correct placing of the police in attendance should be sufficient deterrent, this country already makes the decent suffer for the idiots enough without us joining in.
If anyone causes trouble they should be arrested, charged and banned from every ground but they shouldn’t be allowed to spoil things for everyone else.
Also it seems that Fleetwood are thinking of boycotting the food, programmes etc. and the money would be most appreciated I’m sure.
I hope Witton will reconsider this decision for the sake of decent supporters everywhere and make proper use of the police and stewards instead of souring relations with Fleetwood.
Unfortunately there are a select number of Fleetwood fans who cause trouble. But we are the home side, so why should we be made to feel intimidated in our own ground and our own bar? I fully support the decision of the club. You can’t please all the people all of the time - but we need to make sure that our own fans are able to watch the game in an atmosphere that they feel comfortable in.
Spot on Robbo!
I feel genuinely sorry for the many decent fans of Fleetwood Town which will clearly be the majority, however we have to consider the safety and enjoyment of our own supporters first. We saw in the game against Gateshead that there were 20 to 30 Fleetwood fans that were there for nothing other to incite trouble.
We could allow our stewards to be discretionary on letting well behaved fans through and into the bar, however this puts them in a difficult decision and prompts potential disputes, Unfortunately the very good fans of their club need to support the officials to rid themselves of this problem otherwise the mud will stick.
One of the things that was mentioned and I don’t know if this has happened was a suggestion that FTFC provide stewarding assistance at this game in order that potential trouble makers could be identified.
The club’s decision is sadly the best one, in light of recent experience and whilst this is a shame to their decent supporters surely they can understand why any club would feel it necessary to take such action.
In my opinion this is the correct decision by the club and it had to be the only decision after the gateshead game. There will be a large number of people at the game including a large number of children, familys and they should not be put in the position we were. I do feel sorry for the real fleetwood fans but safety has to be put first.
Absolutely right chaps.
Can you imagine the furore if the club did not adopt this approach and there was trouble?
Fleetwood Town have a relatively large idiot element in their support. If their club cannot tame or ban these people then unfortunately segregation is the only answer. That’s their problem, not ours. Robbo is spot on, we have a responsibility towards OUR fans, I couldn’t give a toss about what the Fleetwood fans think, their responsibility is to sort their own fans out, a responsibility that they continually shy away from.
So, all things considered, hard s**t!!!
Interesting to read the comments on here and the cod-pieces forum on this issue. On thing that irks me is the reference to the “tiny minority” who “may” cause trouble. Fleetwood are averaging 272 at away games this season. So how many do they take away 50-60? How many were on the battle-bus vs gateshead? 30-40? I know the numptys do not travel to every away game, but if they bring 100 to us, then the 30-40 are not a tiny minority.
In my opinion, Fleetwood have only themselves to blame. They must surely know who the offenders are. Its up to their club to act.
Yes, it’s regrettable that this action has to be taken. And I’m sure the decision wasn’t taken lightly, but it’s completely understandable for safety reasons. Imagine how many locals have already been put off coming and/or bringing their children along because of the Fleetwood fans behaviour vs Gateshead.
Hopefully this action will encourage a few more along.
Get off the fence Greenie!!
You are right. If the Codpieces aren’t happy then they should get their own house in order.
Personally i think it will make for a better atmosphere anyway.
It’s a MASSIVE game for both clubs, and it will be a very tense afternoon. There is no point in leaving anything to chance.
Out of courtesy is there any chance of the details for the game being posted for the benefit of home supporters:angry:
Or we could do as other ‘Witton Fans’ have, and post on Fleetwood’s forum criticising our own Club for having the decency to put the requirements of Witton fans before those of the travelling supporters.
I was at the Gateshead game, and the atmosphere wasn’t one which i want to experience again. As said elsewhere, why risk a small percentage of Witton fans not wanting to attend the game due to past experiences when the simple act of segregation makes life easier for all concerned.
It is the actions of 30 or so Fleetwood fans that have resulted in Witton considering this action - and i know it’s something they had hoped to avoid. I’m sure any decision was made in full dialogue with Fleetwood Town FC.
But yes, it would be nice to get official confirmation from Witton.
Last Friday I went to Stockport to watch Sale play Gloucester. It was a birthday present from my two sons so although I felt under the weather I went. Why can’t football supporters act like Rugby Union supporters, they used to.Gloucester supporters happily mingled in with those from Sale. There was a lot of friendly banter snd both sides had a go at the ref, though at different times!! I do believe we need to get rid of the bad supporters, not punish the decent ones. Zero tolerance should prevail, one incident and you are banned for life, the nutters would soon get the message.
WHS.
Who leaked the info to Fleetwood then ? or were they told officially, in which case as Andy says why no info posted for Witton supporters.
I can tell u that myself and Dave Nield will be first point of contact at the turnstiles for the Cods and I have volunteered to be a steward for the day in the interest of safety for all our wonderful supporters.
i accept that the majority of fleetwood fans are decent people.so if the club has 30-40 yobs what are they doing about it. at the gateshead match they all turned up on a coach that was run by the club or supporters club (NB. This is not true, as mentioned below. No idea where you got this idea from, you’re the only person I’ve seen say anything like it. Mike T. (Admin)). i can remember allmost 20 years ago during the last days of the central ground they smashed the club after one game. it seems that things have not changed. so i fully support the actions of witton and its about time fleetwood got there house in order.
Looks like the Cods are coming via train on Monday! Leaving Fleetwood about half 9ish by the sounds of it, hopefully they will be in good spirits by the time they arrive!!
Maybe we’ll see them in the Penny Black.
To be fair to the majority of Fleetwood fans, the bus-load that came to the Gateshead match wasn’t an official Club coach - i think it was actually a coach arranged by the fans that are banned from the official coaches. However, there was 1 guy in particular that i recognised from our first meeting at WP last season - at halftime in the bar he had been dancing around and bumping into Witton fans - so he is certainly a regular at Fleetwood games. :S
Woah there (cota) … I have had to register just to make this post.

Please Please get your facts right. In NO WAY watsoever was that coach associated with Fleetwood Town Football Club or the supporters club, I know because I help run the supporters coach.
It was organised by a group of young lads intent of going to Worksop to meet with their young fans after things had been said on certain chat forums.
The Worksop game was called off and the rest as they say is history.
Please edit your post at the earliest oppertunity or admin please alter.
See you Monday.
As posted above, i agree that it wasn’t an official coach. However, it wasn’t just young lads onboard - there were blokes in their 30s and 40s also.
