I think everyone connected with Witton got totally confused by the one-minute silence.
In great respect to two excellent Wittoners the crowd held their one-minute silence for John Buckley (Derek’s dad) & Geoff Crompton and Gary Ablett. The referee then blew his whistle for the end of the one-minute and there was an applause.
The referee shortly after blew his whistle which triggered the start of the match and, for most of the Witton fans, another 89 minutes silence.
I know the game was dire but was it only the players that were suffering from too much New Year revelling. How is it that the same vocal fans get behind the team so noisily away from WP but fail to bring their vocal chords with them to home games. One of life’s puzzles.
Of course, the 50+ Trafford fans (that is their age not quantity) hadn’t read the script. But then they were away!!!
So, on to Prescot. The same fans will collect their voice-boxes and tootal off down the M62 and start shouting for their team (accompanied of course by the wanton ‘s**t ground, no fans’).
We have a few home games coming up - I think I’ll bring my earplugs.
As for the game v Trafford - it was ssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - it!!!
Unfortunately, the Albion were decidedly second best on Monday. Difficult to know where the root cause of the poor performance was. I’d say that it was a combination of the following:- (i) First choice squad members unavailable; (ii) Lumping the ball up front in the air against a fairly tall central defence and generally losing possession unnecessarily; (iii) Below par work effort, in particular, forwards and midfielders not tackling back when out of possession (Compare and contrast with how Trafford closed down Witton’s players when the roles were reversed).
Winning games back-to-back becomes a habit. Hopefully, Pritch will make sure that losing won’t be!

I was quite puzzled by the lack of atmosphere on Monday. The usual suspects were trying to get songs going but the vast majority didn’t seem interested. There was at least 120 of us behind the goal, surely enough to make a right racket?
very true TT but it was guieter than normal, I suspect that the fans feared the worst with the side that was out and to be honest with that display they gave us very little to shout about, it can be a two way thing.
