Haven’t had any team news upto now but it was widely expected that “Oggie” would utilise his reserve set-up for the game with the previous announcement that upto 11 senior players would be unavailable tonight.

Good run out for the reserves, they will have an idea what level they have to play at to get a regular spot in the first team.
WHS.
Character building !
I dont agree with virtually full reserve team, its good to blood maybe 4 with the 1st team and a couple more from the bench, beyond that its serves no purpose at all, fans get annoyed, the ressies get dispirited and we end up with no chance of winning anything ! all in all a futile exersize.
Attendance 31 ? That must be a record for a game with Witton involved ?
Tend to disagree with you CJ. I think if we had a fit squad then we would have seen a mixture of mainly first teamers with the odd ‘local lad’ given a chance. As things stand, playing half fit players didn’t make sense, so i agree with the manager on this one.
It will have been a good chance for some of the young lads to show the management team what they are made of. Not exactly sink or swim, but a test of character.
Would you have preferred to field 3 or 4 half fit first teamers, lose 1 0 in injury time but pick up 3 injuries for Saturday? Or lose 5 - 1, and then field a strong side on Saturday?
In cup football you may aswell lose by 4 or 5 as lose by 1.
Robbo if the circumstances were as you suggest lots of real injuries then thats ok but Id suggest it was policy decisioon to field a weak team and players were rested that if required would have played in a league game with no consequences, no real axe to grind in truth just a personal preference to give every game a go - we are not a big club !!
